Exclusive Deal: Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons Discounted Amidst Price Hikes

Despite Nintendo`s impending price adjustments for various hardware and accessories, a two-pack of Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers is currently available at Target for $90. This unexpected discount of $5 (or potentially $10, as the price was briefly listed at $100 before reverting) appears only after adding the item to your cart, offering a timely saving for eager gamers.

Effective August 3, Nintendo is implementing price increases across its controller lineup. Joy-Cons for the original Switch and Switch OLED models will see their price rise from $80 to $90. Similarly, the original Switch Pro Controller is set to climb from $70 to $80. However, the newer Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller remains at its $85 price point, unaffected by these changes.

It`s worth noting that several Joy-Con 2 accessories are not subject to these price changes. These include the Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip, priced at $40, which notably features two remappable back buttons for enhanced gameplay. Additionally, the Joy-Con 2 Racing Wheels, ideal for titles like Mario Kart World, remain at $25, and Joy-Con 2 wrist straps retain their affordable $14 pricing.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers, while slightly larger than their predecessors, maintain the familiar design principles established by Nintendo. They retain core features such as precise motion controls, an improved HD Rumble system for more immersive feedback, and NFC support for Amiibo figures. New additions enhance functionality: a “mouse mode” allows for single-controller use, already supported by anticipated launch titles like Civilization VII and future releases such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The right Joy-Con 2 also introduces a dedicated “C” button, providing quick access to the Switch 2`s new GameChat feature. Furthermore, quality-of-life improvements include larger bumpers, designed to improve handling during single Joy-Con gameplay, and a new magnetic attachment mechanism to the console, replacing the traditional mechanical click for smoother connection.
