Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02 Postponed Amidst Tsunami Warnings

The eagerly anticipated Patch 1.02 for Elden Ring Nightreign has experienced a slight postponement. Originally slated for release on July 30th, Bandai Namco announced a revised launch time of July 31st at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET. This adjustment comes in response to tsunami warnings issued across Japan.

The delay follows a powerful earthquake that struck near Russia`s Kamchatka Peninsula, which subsequently led to an evacuation order for approximately 1.9 million residents residing along Japan`s eastern coast. According to reports from the BBC, Japan`s weather agency confirmed that a tsunami wave measuring 4.3 feet had already reached the northern Iwate prefecture.

Once it goes live, the upcoming patch will introduce a new `Duos` mode to Elden Ring Nightreign. This feature will enable two players to collaborate and tackle the game`s challenges without the necessity of recruiting a third companion. While Elden Ring Nightreign was initially designed for three-player teams, an unofficial PC mod providing a duos experience had previously gained considerable popularity among the player base.

Game director Junya Ishizaki had previously acknowledged that a two-player mode for Elden Ring Nightreign was “overlooked” during the development phase. However, he also indicated at the time that From Software had begun exploring the implementation of such a mode.

Elden Ring Nightreign has proven to be another significant success for From Software. The game recently surpassed 5 million units in sales and achieved a peak of 313,593 concurrent users on Steam alone, as tracked by SteamDB. In related news, the original Elden Ring has now sold over 30 million copies globally. Looking to the future, From Software`s next major title is set to be The Duskbloods, which will be released for the Switch 2.
