A two-player mode is set to arrive in Elden Ring Nightreign next week, enabling pairs of players to team up without needing a third companion.
From Software has announced that the highly anticipated duo mode will be introduced to Elden Ring Nightreign on July 30th, coinciding with update 1.02. This update is also expected to bring various quality-of-life improvements, although the full patch notes have not yet been disclosed.
This long-awaited feature will be a significant improvement for players looking to conquer challenges within Limveld. Upon its initial release, Elden Ring Nightreign only allowed players to enter matches either solo or in trios, which forced duos to either join a random third player or actively search for an additional teammate.
A few weeks after Elden Ring: Nightreign launched, a fan-made modification enabled PC players to enjoy duo gameplay, but users on other platforms were out of luck. Therefore, it`s excellent news that all players will finally be able to participate in matches with their preferred team size.
Junya Ishizaki, the director of Elden Ring Nightreign, initially stated that the game`s emphasis on three-player matches was “largely a game-balancing decision, rather than a game-design decision.” Later, in a separate interview, he acknowledged that a two-player mode was “simply something that was overlooked during development” and confirmed that the team was addressing it.
This new addition arrives at a perfect time, as Elden Ring Nightreign recently surpassed 5 million units shipped. This achievement complements the news that the original Elden Ring has sold over 30 million copies on its own, establishing the franchise as From Software`s most commercially successful to date.
