EA Sports is bringing back its college basketball series, and CEO Andrew Wilson has expressed an ambitious goal: to feature all 350 collegiate programs. During a recent earnings call, Wilson conveyed his desire to mirror the comprehensive approach taken with EA Sports College Football, envisioning the inclusion of both men`s and women`s teams, iconic traditions, fierce rivalries, and the excitement of March Madness.
While a specific release date for EA`s new college basketball title remains unconfirmed, a leaked memo suggests a potential launch in 2028. This upcoming game marks a significant return for the franchise, with the last installment, NCAA Basketball 10, having been released way back in 2009. The series originally debuted as NCAA March Madness 98 in 1998, later adopting the NCAA Basketball moniker for its final two releases.
Unlike the unchallenged position of EA Sports College Football, the revived college basketball game might face competition. Reports indicate that 2K Sports is also developing a standalone college hoops title. However, 2K`s offering is reportedly aiming for a smaller roster of around 100 men`s and women`s programs, potentially giving EA an edge in terms of scope if they achieve their goal.
