Game developer Techland has announced a delay for Dying Light: The Beast, pushing its release back several weeks. The new launch date is set for September 19 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Techland stated that this additional month will be dedicated to refining the game, focusing on key elements such as the user interface, gameplay balance, and player animations.
In an official press statement, Techland conveyed, “Our consistent aim has been to ensure Dying Light: The Beast stands as the pinnacle of the Dying Light series. To uphold this commitment, we`ve opted to shift the launch to September 19, 2025, allowing for crucial additional refinement. We acknowledge this might be disappointing, but our experience highlights the immense value of a strong first impression. These four extra weeks will enable us to perfect the final touches that elevate a game from good to truly exceptional.”
Initially planned for an August 22 release, Dying Light: The Beast is presented as a fresh, standalone adventure, bringing back Kyle Crane, the original protagonist from the first game. Fueled by a desire for vengeance after a decade of imprisonment and gruesome genetic manipulation by a shadowy character known as the Baron, Crane ultimately breaks free.
As Crane pursues the Baron into the previously vibrant tourist area of Castor Woods, he confronts masses of infected. Luckily, he`s equipped with more than just his parkour abilities; the Baron`s experiments have bestowed upon him new, rage-driven powers, enabling him to tear through hordes of zombies. Should these prove insufficient, Crane can also fall back on traditional firearms and melee weapons to even the playing field.
In a game preview, Mark Delaney commented that “Dying Light: The Beast leverages years of updates from Dying Light 2 while also reintroducing beloved elements from the original game that Techland sought to revisit.” He added, “This fusion of established and fresh content appears poised to make the 20-hour main story—extending to 40-60 hours for those seeking full completion—a highly worthwhile experience for fans already dedicated to the franchise.”
