Updates regarding the future of Diablo 4 appear to be some time away, as Blizzard plans to inform the community closer to the launch of Season 10.
Responding to a fan`s query on X about Diablo 4 updates, Adam Fletcher, Diablo`s Director of Social and Content Marketing, stated that “there`s nothing to share yet as we`re between seasons. The next update is expected around the Season 10 PTR launch or the Season 10 launch itself.”
Based on Diablo 4 Season 9`s in-game timer, Season 10 is projected to begin on September 23rd. Public Test Realm (PTR) tests typically precede a season by several weeks, placing the PTR around early September or late August. Consequently, Blizzard`s next “Campfire Chat,” where future Diablo 4 plans are usually unveiled, is anticipated around the same timeframe.
This implies a probable month-long silence regarding future Diablo 4 news. The situation is somewhat perplexing for fans, especially since several Diablo 4 content creators recently revealed they attended a Blizzard meeting where they were shown what sounded like significant, fan-requested changes already in development.
News of the content creator meeting led many to anticipate imminent major announcements about Diablo 4`s improvements. Fletcher himself confirmed in June that players` “warcries of wanting more change aren`t going unnoticed,” stating that the team “has been cooking up some of the biggest changes that truly address what people have been asking for, and more.”
Blizzard`s 2025 roadmap for Diablo 4 indicates that Season 10, “Infernal Chaos,” will be the final season of 2025, introducing alterations to the “Infernal Hordes” activity, new seasonal powers, and a fresh IP crossover. The roadmap further hints at a new expansion, a ranking system, and more for 2026.
While it`s possible Blizzard might announce a new Diablo 4 expansion at Gamescom in August, it appears players may need to wait longer than desired to learn about the immediate steps Blizzard is taking to enhance the ARPG.
Meanwhile, Diablo 4 Season 9, which recently saw significant buffs for Barbarians, is currently active. Blizzard is also preparing for the release of Diablo 4 in China, following government approval.
