Destiny 2’s Festival of the Lost 2025: New Haunts and Killer Cosmetics

This year, Destiny 2`s annual Festival of the Lost is set to introduce exciting new activities, moving beyond the traditional Lost Sector farming that players have experienced for years. Bungie, during a livestream discussing the upcoming Renegades expansion, unveiled additions to the spooky Halloween event, including fresh cosmetic armor and weapons, alongside two brand-new activity types.

The event will feature a new six-player PvE activity named “Haunted Altars.” According to Destiny design lead Clayton Kisko, this activity will see the notorious Headless Ones—the pumpkin-headed boss monsters—break free from their usual confinement in Lost Sectors. Additionally, a three-player PvP activity called “Red Rumble” will be introduced. While specific gameplay details for these new modes remain under wraps, they promise to significantly refresh the Festival of the Lost experience, which has largely relied on Lost Sector engagements since before the Beyond Light expansion.

Returning this year is the “hocus-focusing” mechanic, allowing players to strategically target desired loot. Participants will collect Eerie Engrams from Festival activities and Candy, the event-specific currency. Hocus-focusing enables players to acquire particular weapons from the Festival loot pool or even Exotic gear, provided they have enough Candy.

Pop-Culture Killer Themed Armor Ornaments Revealed

In addition to the new gameplay, Bungie showcased the Festival of the Lost 2025`s cosmetic armor ornaments, which draw inspiration from iconic pop-culture killers. Following a player vote in January between “Slashers” and “Specters” themes, Bungie appears to have blended elements from both concepts into the final armor sets.

Hunters will receive an armor set reminiscent of a ghostly bride, incorporating elements inspired by Ghostface from the Scream movies. Titans can embody the look of Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, complete with his signature hockey mask. Warlocks, meanwhile, will be able to don an outfit inspired by the internet phenomenon, Slenderman, depicting a tall, spindly, faceless creature.

These distinct armor ornaments will be available for purchase exclusively through the Eververse Store using Silver, Destiny 2`s premium currency, meaning they won`t be obtainable through regular gameplay.

The livestream also delved into various details about the Renegades expansion and Bungie`s planned adjustments to Destiny 2`s loot and Power progression systems, responding to community feedback.
