A monumental in-game collaboration between Destiny 2 and Magic: The Gathering has been officially announced, set to coincide with the upcoming Guardian Games. Players accustomed to the strategic depths of Magic: The Gathering will soon discover familiar elements within Destiny 2’s Tower. Bungie’s recent update, while detailing the Guardian Games, unveiled an exciting array of Magic: The Gathering-themed items and cosmetic ornaments. This special crossover event introduces new armor sets inspired by several iconic Planeswalkers, alongside a unique collection of Exotic cosmetic items that beautifully blend the aesthetics of both universes.
Following the pattern of previous Destiny 2 collaborations, this crossover introduces three distinct armor sets. Each set is designed for a specific Guardian class and draws inspiration from a prominent Magic: The Gathering Planeswalker. Titans can don the ‘Flamecaller Set,’ inspired by Chandra Nalaar. This fiery ornament captures the essence of red mana’s aggression, complete with Nalaar’s iconic goggles. Hunters will find themselves at home in the ‘Mindsculptor Set,’ channeling Jace Beleren. Reflecting blue mana, this armor perfectly complements the Hunter’s strategic and illusion-based combat style. Warlocks, meanwhile, can embrace the sinister elegance of Liliana Vess with her themed set, demonstrating mastery over the void and other powerful Guardian abilities.
Beyond the armor, several other unique items and cosmetic ornaments will be available:
- Promised End Exotic Shell: A Ghost shell intricately designed after the formidable Eldrazi creature, Emrakul.
- Grand Praetor Exotic Ship: An Exotic ship drawing its menacing aesthetics from Magic: The Gathering’s Phyrexian praetors.
- Voice of Hunter 7/6 Exotic Sparrow: An Exotic Sparrow inspired by the verdant Phyrexian Praetor, Vorinclex.
- Overrun Finisher: A combat finisher directly inspired by Magic: The Gathering’s potent ‘Overrun’ spell.
- Ignite your Spark Exotic Emote: An emote that allows Guardians to manifest their inner Planeswalker spark, surrounded by the swirling five colors of Magic’s mana wheel.
- Sol Ring Exotic Emote: An emote celebrating one of Magic: The Gathering’s most iconic and powerful artifact cards, the Sol Ring.
- Basic Lands Shader Pack: A collection of shaders enabling Guardians to display their preferred mana color, including Golden Plain, Azure Island, Umbral Swamp, Crimson Mountain, and Verdant Forest.
This exciting Destiny 2 x Magic: The Gathering crossover event is scheduled to launch in the Eververse store on March 24th, coinciding with the commencement of the Guardian Games.
