Descenders Next: Unexpected Day-One Release for Game Pass

In an unexpected move, the extreme sports game Descenders Next, developed by RageSquid and published by No More Robots, was surprise-released on July 21st, launching directly into Xbox Game Pass. Its arrival was unforeseen, as the game was initially slated for an April release but was quietly postponed at the last minute.

For those who prefer to own the title outright, Descenders Next is available for purchase on Steam and Xbox for $30 USD. As of now, there has been no announcement regarding its release on PlayStation or Switch consoles.

Currently, Descenders Next features exhilarating snowboarding and mountainboarding experiences, with plans to introduce additional extreme sports in subsequent updates. No More Robots has expressed its ambition for the game, stating that it aims to be “the only extreme sports game you`ll ever need, slowly but surely adding more and more adrenaline-fueled activities over time.”

Building on the considerable success of the original Descenders, which attracted 35 million players, Descenders Next expands the franchise`s horizons beyond its initial focus on downhill biking, venturing into a broader array of extreme sports disciplines.

The game offers robust online multiplayer functionality, expansive biomes ripe for exploration, and a wealth of progression-based unlockable content. According to the game`s description, “The distinctive parks in Descenders Next provide fresh new challenges while serving as vibrant playgrounds. Players can engage in various activities, from racing down mountains with friends for speed to meticulously perfecting tricks and landings. Additionally, scavenger hunts encourage thorough exploration of every corner of the mountain, promising special rewards for those who venture the deepest.”

The captivating soundtrack for Descenders Next was crafted by Monstercat, complementing the high-octane gameplay.
