Chinese tech company Chuwi has officially confirmed a significant issue affecting certain models of its CoreBook X and CoreBook Plus notebooks. These devices were sold with CPUs that did not match their advertised specifications. Following weeks of customer reports and investigations, the company has openly attributed the problem to a “production error,” announcing a full refund program for affected customers.
According to the Chinese manufacturer, a limited number of units were assembled with the wrong processors. Specifically, some models marketed with AMD Ryzen 5 7430U CPUs were actually equipped with the technically older and different AMD Ryzen 5 5500U.
Limited-Time Refund Procedure
Customers affected by this issue are advised to initiate the return process through their original point of purchase or by directly contacting official Chuwi support. The deadline for requesting a full refund is set for May 31, 2026, with the condition that devices must be returned complete with all accessories and in their original condition.
Chuwi has not clarified the exact number of units impacted by this problem, nor has it provided detailed explanations regarding how this error occurred within its production chain. The company’s communication focuses solely on acknowledging the incident and offering a resolution to the affected users.
The discrepancy was initially brought to light by analyses conducted by the tech publication NotebookCheck, which identified differences between the declared specifications and the hardware actually installed. Earlier reports also indicated friction between the company and those who first exposed the case. An additional point of concern involves other potentially affected products. Some reports suggest that the UBox mini PC might also exhibit the same type of discrepancy, though this model is not explicitly included in the official refund program.
