This new collection appears to be a refined version of the previously released 85th Anniversary Superman 5-Film Steelbook, focusing solely on the films and their elegant steelbook packaging to offer a more accessible price point. Each movie is presented in stunning 4K, accompanied by standard Blu-ray discs and Movies Anywhere digital copies, all housed within four individual steelbook cases and a stylish collector`s tin. This Superman collection marks the latest in a growing trend of Amazon-exclusive steelbook library sets, following recent releases such as the `007: Sean Connery 6-Film Steelbook Collection` in June and `A Nightmare on Elm Street 7-Film Steelbook Collection` earlier this month.
Notably, this set includes two distinct versions of `Superman II.` The inclusion of `Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut` addresses a significant historical aspect of the film`s production, where creative disagreements led to director Richard Donner`s replacement by Richard Lester. This collection also complements the forthcoming new Superman movie, whose steelbook edition is designed to visually match the Reeve sets.
