Released this year to significant praise, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has garnered acclaim, particularly for its compelling voice acting ensemble. Charlie Cox, widely recognized for his portrayal of Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, lent his voice to the character Gustave. Despite his involvement, Cox, who has openly admitted not being a frequent gamer, has yet to experience the game himself. However, it appears his stance is shifting.
During a recent Galaxy Con event, Cox revealed (as reported by Kotaku) that his last gaming experience was Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64, nearly three decades prior. Nevertheless, the widespread positive reception for Expedition 33 has piqued his interest, making him eager to play it.
Cox expressed a strong desire to play the game, stating, “I want to play the game. I need to play the game. I need to get a console first, and then I need to play the game.” He conveyed his delight for the developers, noting, “I`m so happy for these guys because they`re not like a big company that makes a ton of games.” He added, “And I hear it`s a frontrunner to win Game of the Year or something. It`s really cool.”
Until very recently, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 held the distinction of being the highest-rated game of 2025. It was only surpassed by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom upgrade for the Switch 2. Despite this, prominent industry personalities, such as Hideo Kojima, have consistently offered glowing reviews for Expedition 33.
Sandfall Interactive, the game`s developer, has communicated with fans regarding potential future updates and planned feature additions for Expedition 33. Furthermore, Sandfall is currently developing a new title, which will not serve as a sequel to Expedition 33.
