Catan Board Game’s New 6th Edition Now Discounted for Prime Day

The recently released 6th Edition of Catan, one of the most beloved strategy board games ever, is currently available at a discount for the first time on Amazon. This offer is part of the retailer`s Prime Day event. You can get Catan 6th Edition for $42, down from its usual price of $50. While it`s not a massive price drop, this is the first discount since the 6th Edition launched in April, making it a good opportunity for those interested.

This new edition retains the core gameplay players know and enjoy, but introduces several enhancements. These include quality-of-life improvements, a visual refresh, and a revised rulebook designed to make learning the game easier for newcomers.

Several popular Catan expansions have also been updated to the 6th Edition, though they are not currently part of this sale.

Catan was originally released in 1995. The 6th Edition doesn`t drastically change the game itself, but focuses on creating a more appealing and sustainable experience. Key changes in this edition are:

  • Updated graphics: Features brighter artwork and modern visuals, including more diverse character illustrations.
  • Premium, eco-friendly components: Game pieces are made with less plastic and sustainability in mind, featuring new textured hex tiles and better card trays.
  • Smart storage: The contents for the 5-6 Player Extension Pack can now be stored within the base game box.
  • Improved rulebook: The rules remain the same, but the rulebook has been updated with clearer graphics and examples to help new players learn.

Existing Catan expansions should be compatible with the new 6th Edition, although there might be visual differences in components.
