Capcom has recently issued a caution to players regarding the future compatibility of several key Monster Hunter titles with Windows 10. This warning comes as Microsoft prepares to cease support for the operating system, potentially impacting the functionality of these games. Monster Hunter Wilds, despite its initial strong launch in early 2025 with 10 million units sold, faced a significant sales drop and persistent PC performance issues. Now, the focus shifts to operating system compatibility as its support winds down.
Through an official statement, Capcom highlighted Microsoft`s upcoming cessation of Windows 10 support, scheduled for October 14th. Following this date, the publisher explicitly stated, “we cannot ensure the continued operation of Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise, and Monster Hunter Wilds on Windows 10 systems.”
While the games may remain functional on Windows 10 post-October 14, Capcom cautioned that subsequent updates for these titles could introduce incompatibilities, potentially preventing them from running correctly on Windows 10 devices.
Previously, a Capcom executive attributed the sales dip of Monster Hunter Wilds to the high cost of PlayStation 5 consoles. The company did acknowledge PC-specific problems in June, which were somewhat alleviated by a later update, leading to an increase in player engagement. Although another patch was released last month, comprehensive solutions for the broader PC performance issues are anticipated with a major update slated for this winter.
Meanwhile, a cross-promotional event featuring Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV premiered earlier this week. Furthermore, Capcom has hinted at the reintroduction of the formidable elder dragon Gogmazios as part of December`s upcoming Free Title Update 4.
