The highly anticipated Season 5 update for Call of Duty: Warzone is set to introduce a significant transformation: the iconic Verdansk Stadium will become a fully accessible and playable area.
Accompanying this change is the new “Stadium Resurgence” game mode. This rapid-action, 36-player mode condenses the combat to the stadium`s immediate vicinity, promising intense, fast-paced engagements. Players can dive into Stadium Resurgence starting the second full week of Season 5.

Activision has also hinted at a larger, more impactful event surrounding the stadium, teasing a “massive disruption across Verdansk.” This cryptic message was accompanied by an image depicting a mysterious red beam descending from the sky.
According to Activision, reconnaissance teams have uncovered a covert military base concealed within the National Acropolis Arena`s sealed walls. While the full scope of the threat is yet unknown, it is believed that a weapon capable of widespread destruction may be discovered nearby.

Furthermore, a new “Satellite Hijack” contract will challenge players to breach the stadium with maximum explosive force. Activision`s official blog post contains redacted portions regarding this contract, implying significant narrative implications and hidden rewards for players who successfully complete it.

Beyond these Warzone-specific updates, Season 5 will introduce a wealth of new content, including additional maps, game modes, weapons, operators, and a BlackCell bundle.
Looking to the future, the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 7, is slated for release later this year. More details about this upcoming title are expected to be unveiled during Gamescom in August.
