The Call of Duty “Carry Forward” program is making a return for Black Ops 7, enabling players to transfer weapons, operator skins, and other cosmetic items from Black Ops 6. However, there will be specific limitations on which items can be carried over and when.
During a Call of Duty preview event, Activision`s Senior Director of Communications, Stephanie Snowden, confirmed the “Carry Forward” initiative will indeed continue for Black Ops 7. At the game`s launch, players can expect their XP tokens and Zombies GobbleGums to transfer. However, the bulk of other content, including Black Ops 6 weapons and operator skins, will only become available after Season 1, with Activision mentioning a few exceptions that won`t carry over at all.

Snowden also noted that the communications team is closely monitoring community discussions regarding operator and weapon skins. “When it comes to cosmetics, we have a very broad community to serve with lots of different interests and tastes across game modes,” Snowden explained. “We are paying attention to that, but we also need to do right by our players.”
While Snowden didn`t elaborate, this likely refers to the ongoing community debate concerning the more eccentric skins introduced in Call of Duty over recent years. Some players prefer traditional, military-simulation-style operators that align with the game`s military shooter theme. In contrast, others enjoy the more outlandish crossover bundles featuring characters like Beavis and Butt-Head or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Notably, Battlefield 6, also set to release this fall, plans to focus on more “grounded” skin designs.
Delaying the bulk of the “Carry Forward” content until after launch is likely a strategy to satisfy both factions within the Call of Duty community: those who prefer to avoid outlandish skins at launch and those who wish to continue using their purchased operator bundles.
Black Ops 7 is set to launch on November 14 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Key announcements include details on the campaign`s endgame, a massive round-based Zombies map, and a futuristic aesthetic for multiplayer.
