Despite initial performance challenges following its release, Gearbox Studios is actively planning future content for Borderlands 4, including the introduction of an exciting new Vault Hunter.
Meet C4sh: The Latest Vault Hunter
Gearbox has officially announced C4sh, a captivating new character slated to join the ranks of Vault Hunters in Borderlands 4. C4sh is depicted as a former casino dealer bot who has embraced the life of a drifter, constantly seeking the “probability-breaking highs of cursed eldritch artifacts.” This enigmatic character, referred to with the pronoun “He—or it,” will make their grand entrance as part of the game`s inaugural story pack DLC.
The upcoming DLC is titled “Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned” and promises to deliver a fresh, engaging narrative. C4sh is merely one of two new Vault Hunters hinted at by Gearbox, with the identity of the second character remaining a mystery for now.
Jim Foronda, the esteemed voice actor for the beloved character Claptrap, responded to the announcement by sharing his personal “head canon” regarding a potential connection between his character and C4sh.
DLC Release and Upcoming Free Content
Players can anticipate the release of C4sh and the entire first story pack DLC in the first quarter of 2026. In addition to this premium expansion, Gearbox has outlined plans for a series of free updates. These updates are expected to feature dynamic seasonal mini-events, formidable invincible bosses, and a variety of other bonus content designed to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
Performance Updates and Port Status
In the interim, Gearbox has deployed a new patch for Borderlands 4, specifically aimed at resolving some of the game`s initial stability and performance glitches. The studio even put forth an unconventional recommendation to help players tackle persistent issues on the PC version. Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox Studios, has publicly addressed player criticism regarding optimization, offering practical advice for improving performance on both PC and console platforms. Furthermore, Pitchford confirmed that a dedicated patch for the PlayStation 5 Pro is currently under development.
However, not all news regarding upcoming releases is positive. The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 port of Borderlands 4, which was initially scheduled for an October 3 release, has now been delayed indefinitely.
