Blumhouse Games` much-anticipated co-op horror game, Eyes of Hellfire, is officially launching its open beta today. This gives players a chance to delve into its terrifying depths before the early access phase begins on Steam later this month. A key highlight is the integration of Steam`s Friend`s Pass feature, which means players won`t have to face the terrors of the Hellfire Club alone; friends can join the spooky experience even if only one person owns a copy of the game.
Developed by the Irish studio Gambrinous, Eyes of Hellfire immerses up to five players in a chilling narrative rooted in Irish folklore. Players find themselves trapped within the enigmatic Hellfire Club lodge, tasked with working together to solve intricate puzzles and find a way to escape. Beyond the immediate threat, each player must also strive to break free from their individual curses.
The path to freedom is fraught with danger, as ghosts and other malevolent apparitions lurk in the shadows. Adding a psychological twist, players must also exercise caution and vigilance among themselves, as the game introduces a betrayal mechanic, allowing individuals to sacrifice their allies for their own survival.
Further complicating matters, the seemingly benevolent host of the Hellfire Club lodge harbors a clandestine agenda of his own. This underlying deception forces players to constantly weigh their trust in both the enigmatic host and their fellow trapped companions, as their very lives hang precariously in the balance.
While the free version of Eyes of Hellfire available through Steam Friend`s Pass offers a taste of the game, it`s worth noting that it provides a more limited experience compared to the full paid version. Players who opt to purchase the game will unlock comprehensive meta-character progression systems, a broader array of unlockable cards, and extensive customization options to tailor their gameplay.
