Horror games are often best enjoyed in one of two ways: either you dim all the lights for a truly immersive, solo experience, or you gather a few friends to tackle the unknown horrors together, sharing both screams and laughter. Blumhouse Games, in collaboration with Dublin-based studio Gambrinous, enthusiastically embraces the latter approach with their latest title, Eyes of Hellfire. Launching today on Steam Early Access, the game utilizes Steam`s convenient game-sharing features to bring your friends into the chilling action.
Steam`s integrated Friend`s Pass feature allows a single player who owns Eyes of Hellfire to share the game with up to four other players, completely free of charge. However, those accessing the game via Friend`s Pass will have limited access; meta-progression and other premium perks are exclusively available to players who purchase the full game.
According to its official announcement, Eyes of Hellfire is a “co-op Gothic horror game inspired by Irish folklore.” It plunges five players into a sinister, atmospheric lodge with a singular objective: escape. The team must work together to explore their surroundings, solve intricate puzzles, and bravely confront malevolent hordes of demons and other spectral entities to navigate the lodge and secure their freedom.
Player progression through the lodge is governed by a strategic card-based system. These cards dictate available actions, provide helpful items, and offer other crucial details. Adding a dark twist, each player is afflicted with a unique “curse” that must be resolved to escape the lodge—even if the path to that resolution involves an act of betrayal against their own group of friends.
Eyes of Hellfire is now available for PC through Steam Early Access. Blumhouse and Gambrinous have already laid out an ambitious early-access roadmap, promising exciting future updates. Players can look forward to new scenarios, additional playable characters, terrifying monsters, challenging puzzles, and much more in the coming months.
