During the Call of Duty: Next event, Activision and Treyarch announced that Black Ops 7`s post-launch content, beginning with Season 1, is set to be the most extensive first season in the franchise`s history for a new Call of Duty title.
Season 1 promises a substantial amount of new content, including seven additional 6v6 multiplayer maps, two new Zombies Survival maps, and one new round-based Zombies map. There is also a possibility of new content for Call of Duty: Warzone.
Historically, Activision releases Call of Duty`s seasonal content in phases, typically dividing it between an initial launch and further additions through subsequent “Reloaded” updates.
Players will not have to wait until Season 1 for new maps, as a fresh iteration of Nuketown will be available prior to the season`s official start. Black Ops 7 will launch with a total of 18 maps: 16 dedicated to 6v6 multiplayer and two designed for the 20v20 Skirmish mode.
When Does Season 1 Begin?
Activision has not yet disclosed the precise start date for Season 1. For context, last year`s Black Ops 6 commenced its Season 1 on November 14, 2024, approximately 20 days after its game launch on October 25, 2024. Should Black Ops 7 follow a similar timeline, Season 1 could potentially begin around early December, though this remains unconfirmed.
While all post-launch maps will be provided free of charge, Black Ops 7 is expected to feature an in-game store where players can purchase various items with real money. Activision has hinted at a potential shift away from overly extravagant or “wacky” cosmetic skins. Furthermore, skins acquired in Black Ops 6 will not transfer to Black Ops 7.
Fans will have the opportunity to experience Black Ops 7`s multiplayer during a beta period, running from October 2 through October 8. The full game is scheduled for release on November 14.
