Upon its official launch on October 10, Battlefield 6 appears poised for a highly successful market debut. Analyst Rhys Elliott of Aliena Analytics reported in his newsletter that the game garnered an impressive 1.8 million pre-sales solely on Steam before its release, translating to more than $100 million in revenue. Currently, Battlefield 6 stands as the top-selling game on Steam, holding the No. 1 spot both in the United States and globally.
Elliott observed, “All signs, at least pre-launch, suggest Battlefield is back in the fight. Our estimates reflect a perfect storm of pent-up demand after years of missteps and a huge potential comeback narrative.” This statement highlights a significant anticipation among players for the new installment.
It is important to clarify that these substantial figures pertain exclusively to Steam sales. Battlefield 6 is also available across other major platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While not included in Game Pass, the $100 premium edition of the game can be accessed through an EA Play Pro subscription, offering an alternative for players interested in enhanced content.
Prior to these reports, Elliott had predicted a strong financial performance for Battlefield 6 within Electronic Arts (EA), though he had initially forecasted that it would not outperform its rival, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
In his newsletter, Elliott also suggested that the successful launch of Battlefield 6 might help secure the positions of its developers, potentially shielding them from being sold or closed. This comes amidst reports of EA`s potential sale to a private consortium, with earlier indications that Battlefield developers could face significant cuts if the game failed to perform well.
Elliott further noted that EA`s potential “efficiency rounds” of restructuring might commence around 2027. These could reportedly lead to the divestment or closure of teams focused on single-player experiences, including the esteemed RPG studio BioWare and Motive, which developed Battlefield 6`s campaign.
The day-one update for Battlefield 6 delivered over 200 fixes, changes, and general improvements, ensuring a smoother experience for players from the outset. Additional resources are available for players seeking more in-depth information and strategies to enhance their gameplay experience.
