Battlefield 6 Storage Footprint: Smaller Than anticipated

The file size for Battlefield 6, while substantial, is not as massive as some might have anticipated. The game`s Steam page reveals that it will occupy between 55GB and 80GB of storage. Even at the higher end, this footprint is considerably smaller compared to many contemporary titles.

An EA spokesperson clarified to PC Gamer that the variation in file sizes on Steam is due to players` ability to selectively install game components. For instance, users can choose to install only the single-player campaign or just the multiplayer mode.

The specific sizes for Battlefield 6`s individual installable parts have not yet been detailed. Furthermore, it remains unconfirmed whether this modular installation option will be available on consoles, or what the corresponding file sizes will be for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Efforts have been made to contact EA for more information.

In contrast, Battlefield`s primary competitor in the first-person shooter genre, Call of Duty, is well-known for its exceptionally large file sizes and significant storage demands. Nevertheless, similar to Battlefield, Call of Duty also allows players to customize their installation by selecting specific elements such as the campaign, multiplayer, or other game components.

Recently, Call of Duty HQ, the unified launcher for the latest Call of Duty titles, saw a notable reduction in its overall size following the removal of two major games from its platform.

The open beta for Battlefield 6 is scheduled to commence on August 7 for a select group of players, with a wider release planned for later in the month. Preloading is currently accessible across all platforms.
