While Electronic Arts has not released official sales figures for Battlefield 6, an analyst`s report suggests the game achieved a launch comparable to Call of Duty, selling an estimated 6.5 million units within its initial days.
According to Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics, these impressive sales, estimated from their internal data, spanned all platforms and generated over $350 million in gross revenue.
Elliott commented that these figures position Battlefield 6 closer to Call of Duty`s performance than any of EA`s previous premium shooters. He questioned, however, whether EA could sustain this strong start to build a lasting platform.
A platform-specific sales analysis indicated Steam led with 65.7% of sales, moving 3.5 million units and earning over $220 million. The PlayStation 5 followed, selling 1.5 million copies and contributing 23.7% to the total sales. The Xbox Series X|S secured third place, with 1.2 million units sold, representing a 19.6% share.
Specifically on Steam, Battlefield 6 demonstrated remarkable player engagement, achieving a record peak of over 747,000 concurrent players. This milestone surpasses any other EA title on Steam, including the popular free-to-play game Apex Legends, which peaked at 624,000 concurrent players.
The first season of Battlefield 6 is set to commence on October 28, reportedly coinciding with the debut of its battle royale mode. Following this, Season 1 will introduce Phase 2, “Rogue Ops,” on November 18, and “Winter Offensive” on December 9. These upcoming updates promise to deliver new maps, game modes, and weaponry.
Despite its impressive initial performance, the ultimate challenge for Battlefield 6 is whether it can, for the first time, surpass a Call of Duty title in overall sales. Prior to its release, industry experts largely predicted that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 would ultimately outsell EA`s new game.
