Battlefield 6 Open Beta Revealed In Datamining Leak, But Nothing Is Confirmed Yet

Datamining efforts suggest that a potential open beta is being planned for the upcoming Battlefield game, currently known as Battlefield 6. The game is presently only accessible through a closed alpha testing phase.

MP1ST has reported that Battlefield enthusiasts examining the game`s code found a text string mentioning a `Battlefield 6 open beta`. This discovery came from the latest client update for the Battlefield Labs test. Since such internal code is not typically intended for public viewing, it`s possible that `Battlefield 6` is merely a placeholder name, or the mention of an open beta is simply placeholder text itself.

Prior datamining activities have previously hinted at other potential features, including a rumored battle royale mode and details concerning the game`s campaign.

The Battlefield Labs test is exclusive, meaning participation requires receiving an invitation. Testing is still underway, and interested players can currently sign up. EA has stated their intention to give more players access to Battlefield 6 before its official launch, but they have yet to make any formal announcements regarding an open beta. However, an open beta would not be unexpected, as previous installments like Battlefield 2042 and others in the series featured open testing phases before release.

EA is set to formally reveal the next Battlefield title sometime this summer. Some fans had speculated a reveal might happen in June to coincide with various other gaming industry events, but this did not occur. Current theories propose that the official Battlefield 6 announcement might be made alongside the reveal of an open beta, but as of now, none of this information is confirmed.

This new Battlefield game marks the first release in the franchise since Battlefield 2042 in 2021. That entry was met with a poor reception, with EA management citing challenges from remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic as a contributing factor. Despite its critical reception, Battlefield 2042 was the fifth best-selling game in the US in 2021.

In other related news, EA and DICE have previously discussed the introduction of ultimate-like abilities in the upcoming Battlefield game and have defended their decision to remove class-based weapon restrictions.
