Following the challenges encountered with Battlefield 2042, Electronic Arts (EA) is now fully committing to Battlefield 6, aiming to transform the franchise into a comprehensive “platform” rather than just another single game release.
During a recent earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson emphasized this strategic shift. As reported by VGC, Wilson stated, “We`ve been investing more behind this Battlefield than any Battlefield product before it.”
Wilson further elaborated that the significant investment over the past four years, involving four different studios, is driven by the vision of establishing Battlefield as a robust platform. He promised that the full scope of this strategy would soon become evident.
These four studios—DICE, Criterion, Motive, and Ripple Effect—are collaboratively contributing to the future development of the Battlefield series under the unified Battlefield Studios initiative.
A major reveal for Battlefield 6 is scheduled for July 31, where EA plans to showcase the game`s multiplayer features. This event marks the beginning of an intensive marketing campaign, as EA is “all-in as a company on it.”
Wilson highlighted that this upcoming reveal will be the public`s first opportunity to witness the “true scale” of their development efforts and catch a glimpse of what`s to come.
Confirmed features for Battlefield 6 include both multiplayer and single-player modes. Additionally, rumors and reports indicate the return of the popular Portal mode, with a battle royale mode potentially launching sometime after the game`s initial release.
According to speculative reports, Battlefield 6 is anticipated to launch on October 10, with pre-orders potentially opening on July 31. The standard edition is not expected to be priced at $80, and an open beta is also planned for players to experience the game prior to its official release.
