EA`s highly anticipated game, Battlefield 6, has launched with remarkable success on Steam. Within just half an hour of its release, the game garnered over 500,000 concurrent players, as confirmed by Steam`s official statistics. Currently, only the popular free-to-play titles Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 surpass Battlefield 6 in concurrent player count.
The concurrent player count for Battlefield 6 on Steam quickly rose, reaching more than 606,000 players at the time of this report.
Such an impressive debut for Battlefield 6 was widely anticipated. An industry analyst noted that the game had accumulated close to 2 million pre-orders, translating to over $100 million in revenue even before its official release. During the short period this article was being drafted, Battlefield 6`s player base on Steam expanded by an additional 100,000 users.
Player numbers for Battlefield 6 are expected to continue climbing throughout today and the upcoming long holiday weekend in the US.
Beyond Steam, Battlefield 6 is also accessible on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Unlike Valve`s transparent data for Steam, console manufacturers typically do not provide real-time player statistics.
Despite the massive influx of players, Battlefield 6`s servers seem to be managing the load effectively. To handle demand, players are being directed into server queues.
Even with its significant launch success, experts predict that Battlefield 6 is unlikely to surpass Activision`s upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in total sales.
