Concerns have emerged among the Battlefield 6 community that certain player emblems may contain art generated by artificial intelligence. Fans are speculating that generative AI tools were used, at least in part, to create assets for the game. However, Electronic Arts (EA) and the game`s development team have yet to provide official confirmation or denial regarding these claims, and concrete proof remains elusive.
Observers have highlighted specific visual inconsistencies within the emblem designs that fueled these suspicions. EA has been contacted for comment regarding the irregularities.
EA`s Official Stance on Generative AI
DICE General Manager Rebecka Coutaz previously addressed the studio`s stance on generative AI in October, confirming that EA teams utilize the technology during initial development phases “to allow more time and more space to be creative.” Coutaz emphasized at that time that Battlefield 6 itself does not feature content created by generative AI. She expressed overall optimism, though, believing AI can:
“If we can break the magic with AI it will help us be more innovative and more creative.”
Developer Fasahat `Fas` Salim also weighed in, urging the industry not to fear generative AI in game production. He noted that plans are being drawn up to effectively integrate AI into future development pipelines.
“It’s just a matter of how we can incorporate that productively into our workflows; how can we leverage that to take our games to the next level,” Salim stated.
Coutaz further characterized the use of generative AI in game creation as “very seducing.”
The Broader Industry Trend
The enthusiasm from EA developers is consistent with the company`s executive leadership. CEO Andrew Wilson views the widespread adoption of AI tools as a long-term benefit for the company. Wilson has also publicly stated that while increased adoption of AI technologies will initially cause job displacement, it will ultimately lead to a net gain in employment over time.
EA is not alone in its technological reliance. EA Sports previously suggested that titles like CFB 25 might have suffered without the integration of machine learning and AI. Outside of EA, Sony has utilized AI tools in game development for years, citing machine learning systems as crucial in accelerating the production of Marvel`s Spider-Man 2.
Interestingly, the development teams behind Battlefield`s competitor, Call of Duty, have openly acknowledged their use of generative AI during their own development cycles.
The AI Debate Rages On
The broader discourse concerning AI in gaming recently escalated following controversial remarks by Larian Studios head Swen Vincke. Separately, the game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 had a Game of the Year award rescinded specifically because of its use of AI-generated content.
Despite any controversies, Battlefield 6 is currently performing strongly, ranking as the best-selling game of 2025 in the US so far, surpassing even Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
