Battlefield 6 Battle Royale: Instant Death Ring, 100 Players, Destruction, and More Details Revealed

Battlefield Studios has released extensive official information regarding Battlefield 6`s battle royale mode. This includes details on match sizes, core gameplay mechanics, and a unique feature dubbed the “deadliest ring” in the genre. Players will have the opportunity to experience the battle royale mode before its official release through the Battlefield Labs testing program; interested individuals are encouraged to sign up for early access.

The developers stated: “We recognize a significant opportunity to integrate Battlefield`s core pillars – class-based squad play, tactical destruction, and vehicle combat – into the battle royale genre. Our aim is to forge a high-stakes, adrenaline-fueled gameplay experience. This represents Battlefield`s distinctive take on the classic formula, meaning players can anticipate utilizing all fundamental game elements, including gadgets, explosives, destructible environments, and vehicles, to secure victory.”

The Battlefield 6 battle royale map, which currently lacks an official designation, has been specifically designed for this mode. It will feature a “diverse array” of points of interest, promising “unique gameplay opportunities.”

Vehicles will be integral to the mode, ranging from “common” transport vehicles to “powerful armored vehicles” capable of shifting the battle`s momentum. Battlefield Studios aims to “offer more ways for players to traverse the map early in a match and to foster engaging combined arms combat.” The battle royale mode will also retain Battlefield`s signature destruction elements, empowering players to demolish walls to gain a tactical edge.

The developers expressed excitement to witness players` inventive use of destruction to overcome opponents. In the upcoming battle royale test, matches will feature 100 players, organized into 25 four-person squads. The primary objective, as expected, is to be the last squad standing. The Battlefield 6 battle royale mode also incorporates “second chances,” allowing Support class players to revive downed allies and offering “Mobile Redeploy” options to extend a player`s time in the match.

Regarding what Battlefield Studios terms the “deadliest ring in BR,” the studio confirmed that touching the ring will result in an instant kill for players. Unlike other titles, such as Call of Duty: Warzone, where players might briefly survive outside the shrinking zone, this will not be the case in Battlefield 6. The developers elaborated: “Urgent warnings as the fire approaches will force soldiers into more intense firefights as the playable area continuously shrinks. There`s no entering or exiting it, no using it for cover, no passing through it – if you`re caught, you`re eliminated. We are eager to observe how this ring impacts the game`s pace and fosters spontaneous confrontations.”

Battlefield`s established class system will be integrated into the battle royale mode. Players can select a class – Assault, Engineer, Support, or Recon – and form their squad accordingly. However, once a match commences, players will be unable to change their chosen class.

Each class starts a match equipped with two default gadgets. Throughout matches, players accumulate XP by eliminating opponents and completing missions. Furthermore, each class features a “Training” component; as players advance their Training level, they unlock new traits that “enhance” their chosen class. An illustrative example provided by the developers is the Assault class, which gains the ability to equip armor plates faster, making them more resilient in ongoing or future firefights.

Regarding weapons and items, the game features five tiers of lootable weapons, alongside attachments, throwable items like frag grenades, various gadgets, strike packages, armor, upgrade kits, and “custom drops of favorited weapons.”

Battlefield Studios stated that these items can be acquired throughout the game via general loot crates, class-specific crates, by unlocking armored trucks, as rewards for completing missions, or by looting defeated enemies.

Battlefield 6 battle royale matches will also incorporate “Missions” that squads can collaboratively undertake for supplementary rewards. Objectives range from unlocking high-value caches to planting explosives to eliminate critical targets. Mission details will outline the available rewards, such as a weapon cache, vehicle key, or Mobile Redeploy unit, leaving it to each squad to assess if the risk is justified by the potential gain. Upon completion of the mission objective, rewards are airdropped, so squads must remain vigilant for other players who might attempt to seize them.

The upcoming Battlefield Labs test for the battle royale mode mandates that participants sign an NDA, prohibiting the sharing of any gameplay footage. Nevertheless, historical precedent suggests that leaks of information are highly probable.

Battlefield 6 is scheduled for release on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. There is currently no official announcement regarding the battle royale mode`s release date, nor whether it will be a premium component of Battlefield or a standalone, free-to-play download.
