A recent leak suggests that Assassin`s Creed Shadows might launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 5. This marks another instance of information regarding the game`s release on the new console appearing prematurely.
According to a report from Dealabs, initially identified by VGC, Assassin`s Creed Shadows is expected to be available for the Switch 2 in December, both digitally and as a physical release. The physical edition is reportedly a “Game Key Card,” which means it requires a digital download instead of containing the full game on a cartridge. This format has been met with mixed reactions, but Ubisoft has previously justified its use for titles like Star Wars Outlaws, citing performance advantages of digital storage over physical cartridges for streaming game worlds.
The leak also indicated a price of 50 Euros, potentially translating to around $50 USD. This pricing would represent a notable reduction compared to other platforms, where the standard edition of Assassin`s Creed Shadows is available. For context, Star Wars Outlaws was released on Switch 2 as a Gold Edition (including the Season Pass) for $60.
The arrival of Assassin`s Creed Shadows on Switch 2 has been hinted at multiple times. Earlier this year, the game appeared on the PEGI ratings website for Nintendo`s console. Furthermore, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has previously suggested that “new versions” of Assassin`s Creed Shadows would launch on “other machines,” strongly implying a Switch 2 release.
For additional details, the game initially launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in March.
