Apple Unveils iPhone 17: 120Hz Display, Xbox One X-like Cooling

Apple recently introduced its new iPhone 17 lineup, comprising four distinct models: the standard iPhone 17, the ultra-slim iPhone Air, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. While the remarkably thin iPhone Air has garnered significant attention, the entire series incorporates several technological advancements that will especially appeal to mobile gamers.

A key innovation is the enhanced Super Retina XDR display. This screen is not only fortified with Ceramic Shield 2 for increased durability but also boasts ProMotion technology, enabling a fluid 120Hz refresh rate. NetEase`s popular free-to-play RPG, Destiny Rising, is among the initial iOS titles confirmed to leverage this high refresh rate.

Another notable inclusion is the vapor chamber cooling system, a technology previously seen in the Xbox One X. This system significantly improves heat dissipation and sustains performance by utilizing deionized water sealed within a chamber. This chamber is laser-welded into the aluminum frame, efficiently drawing heat away from the robust A19 Pro chip and enabling it to maintain peak performance, as detailed in Apple`s official statement.

Beyond these, the new iPhones feature the powerful A19 Pro chip, equipped with a 6-core CPU and GPU architecture. Apple claims this chip offers up to a 40% improvement in sustained performance compared to its predecessor. For connectivity, the new N1 wireless networking chip provides support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, optimizing the experience for online multiplayer gaming.

All variants of the iPhone 17 are slated for release on September 19, with pre-orders commencing a week earlier on September 12.
