Albion Online Arrives on Xbox Series X|S: Release Date Announced for Fantasy MMORPG on Console

After nearly a decade of presence on PC, the popular fantasy MMORPG Albion Online is set to make a somewhat surprising debut on Xbox Series X|S. Sandbox Interactive has confirmed that the game will be available on Microsoft’s consoles starting April 21st.

The title boasts significant longevity on PC, having originally launched in July 2017, before expanding to mobile platforms with iOS and Android versions in 2021. Now, the next step is its entry into the console world, beginning with Xbox.

This marks Albion Online’s first foray into the console sector. Currently, no information has been released regarding a potential launch on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, with availability confirmed solely for Xbox Series X|S.

Cross-play and Adaptation of Controls and Interface

The Xbox Series X|S version of Albion Online will support cross-play with its PC counterpart. This will allow players to transfer progress and saves using the same account, as well as participate in multiplayer sessions with friends across different platforms.

To celebrate the announcement of its Xbox arrival, the team created a peculiar live-action trailer in collaboration with the group Oddest of the Odd, which highlights an ironic and humorous side of Albion’s online world.

The Xbox Series X|S version will be largely identical to its PC counterpart, but will feature significant adaptation of the control system to ensure the most intuitive possible support for the Xbox controller.

Similarly, the user interface has also been redesigned to facilitate navigation using the console’s controller.

Albion Online has already experienced a recent resurgence, particularly with the opening of a new server in Europe in 2024, which generated considerable activity within the game world. Now, attention turns to observing the results and reception on the console front.
