The annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards return, celebrating their 10th anniversary with an impressive lineup of nominees and musical guests.
Fan voting is open from today until April 15th. This year offers a new voting option via MyAnimeList, in addition to the established Crunchyroll and Anime Awards websites. The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 23rd, with the pre-show commencing at 4 AM EDT and the main event at 5 AM EDT.
The past year proved dynamic for the anime industry, featuring climactic finales for series like My Hero Academia and exciting debuts such as Gachiakuta, resulting in an extensive list of nominees. The film categories, in particular, anticipate a fierce competition, notably between Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. The awards presentation will feature a star-studded lineup of presenters, including Asuka Saito, DANNA, RZA, Nyvi Estephan, Rashmika Mandanna, and Winston Duke, among others.
Hiroki Totoki, President and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, will deliver the opening remarks. Voice actress Sally Amaki and popular entertainer Jon Kabira will then co-host the event. Musical performances from bands featured in nominated anime are also expected, including PORNOGRAFFITTI, recognized for their opening sequence for My Hero Academia‘s final season.
Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini stated that the Anime Awards serve as a global celebration for fans to show appreciation to the creators of their favorite titles. This year’s nominees encompass nearly 50 distinct series and films, all selected by fans as the most cherished from the past year. He further acknowledged the past decade’s nominees, which include over 110 animation studios responsible for almost 290 unique anime and more than 220 voice actors.
