007: First Light Features IO Interactive’s Largest Levels Ever

IO Interactive, the studio globally recognized for its exemplary level design in the critically acclaimed **Hitman** series, has announced that its forthcoming James Bond title, **007: First Light**, will boast some of the most expansive and intricate environments they have ever engineered. A recent State of Play presentation offered a compelling preview of this ambitious design philosophy, showing IO`s rendition of Agent 007 navigating a sophisticated Slovakian hotel. This detailed setting immediately drew parallels to the elaborate Parisian fashion show level from **Hitman (2016)**, underscoring the abundant opportunities for stealth, espionage, and strategic infiltration.

“When you arrive, we dive into much more familiar territory from an IO perspective and from an audience perspective, where we have this chateau laid out before you, which then has in it everything from social gameplay up to the larger areas where you are free to roam around and utilize the width of the gameplay that we have to offer,” explained Rasmus Poulsen, the franchise art director, while discussing the “Chateau” mission. He further underscored the significant scale of the game, asserting, “I would say some of the missions in the game are the largest we`ve done in our history in terms of measurements.”

Should these claims materialize as promised, fans of James Bond can eagerly anticipate truly vast and richly detailed locales, providing countless hours of exploration—a hallmark of IO Interactive`s celebrated craftsmanship. Prior works, such as the **Hitman: World of Assassination** trilogy, were renowned for their impressively large and complex maps, including the sprawling city of Sapienza, the opulent high-rise in Dubai, and the clandestine Club 27 warehouse in Berlin. The recent State of Play demonstration vividly showcased how players will be able to embody the quintessential 007 persona, employing an array of gadgets, close-quarters combat skills, and astute strategic thinking to infiltrate and access new areas within each mission.

007: First Light is scheduled for release on March 27, 2026. It will be available across multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. For those who missed the official livestream, additional revelations included a comprehensive look at 14 new game features, a captivating collection of 110 screenshots detailing the 007 adventure, insights into the celebrity voice cast, and a closer inspection of the exclusive $300 Specialist Edition, which notably comes with a replica golden gun.
