I never did get around to playing Pikmin 2… FOR SHAME! But I’ve been itching to replay the original Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 in the run-up to Pikmin 3!
Sadly though, I don’t have a WiiU, so I gotta solve that problem first….

I absolutely LOVE this piece. So freakin’ awesome. As already mentioned with the other excitebike artwork, I love this kind of thing where videogame elements are put into real-life backgrounds, and this one is about as good as you can get!
Watch WiiU Nintendo Direct live right now!
Why the heck can you not? Who knows. Thankfully, Nintendo knows about this issue and that people desire it, and is working on an update that will allow Wii U owners to play downloadable titles, including Virtual Console games (once the Virtual Console debuts on the WiiU, that is).
To quote, Nintendo told Kotaku:
“Nintendo is moving ahead with development of Virtual Console for Wii U. We plan to make it so you can play Virtual Console games on the Wii U GamePad alone”.
Reggie, Nintendo of America’s Vice President, has also publicly stated that he would “Love for that to happen” regarding the ability to play Virtual Console games on the WiiU GamePad.
These are definitely positive developments, but I wish Nintendo would get their act together and have stuff like this figured out beforehand. Not later on. Nintendo fans who love the Virtual Console and have downloaded tons of games for it on Wii, DSi and 3DS, should be rewarded for their diligence and fan-service, not “punished”. But oh well, as long as they fix these problems, then all is well. But they need to continue to learn from their mistakes.
But Americans will finally be able to check out what they missed! I still remember reading the EGM Review for the original Toki Tori and being sad that Nintendo never brought the little guy to America.
Actually, I always thought it was a Nintendo-published game but apparently I was wrong. It’s developed by “Two Tribes” who will be publishing the 3DS version.
This is a great little game that got fantastic reviews upon its release. You may have played a version of it, as a Toki Tori WiiWare remake of this first game was released for Wii’s digital WiiWare service in 2008.
This version features updated controls and improved, crisper graphics, among a few other minor differences but its pretty much the same exact game. The one I love as you just saw in my Mastering Resident Evil article.
What’s it like for a first-time girl gamer to try her hand at the ultra-difficult-for-newbies Resident Evil Remake? Watch to find out!

Here is a video of me unboxing a complete EarthBound set (from my personal collection) that I am selling on Craigslist.
As you can see, it is not in great condition, the box is pretty roughed up. I bought it in 1998 (the game and the box) at Blockbuster Video for… wait for it…. $15! Of course, little did I know how rare it would become.
Even back then, I was pissed. Because the main reason I bought the game was because of the eye-catching large box, which I assumed included the Player’s Guide printed on the cover. The Collector’s Whore in me wanted it more to have a complete set than to have the game… although I was interested in RPGs thanks to “Super Mario RPG” and had heard good things in gaming magazines of a strange, unique RPG called “EarthBound”. But I had never played it and didn’t know anything about it beyond that.
Much to my horror, when I opened the box up I discovered that there was NO PLAYER’S GUIDE/instruction manual inside!!!!!!!! Just the game and the box! I was SO UPSET. I nearly took it back!
…. PHEW! What a mistake that would’ve been eh! Suffice it to say, I kept it. Now due to it being a Blockbuster rental, the box was already roughed up, and since then it has simply sat on my shelf and got more worn over the ages and the last 14 years that I’ve owned it. As such, the box is in pretty rough shape.
The game works perfectly, although it doesn’t maintain game saves. :( It has always done this though, even when I first bought it. I even replaced the battery once and it still didn’t maintain my saves. :( I kept trying to play it for years and years, refusing to use a ROM, since I wanted to beat it in its original state on my SNES. However after trying to beat it one final time on SNES about a year ago, I finally gave in and downloaded the ROM. So I didn’t have to worry about my saves getting erased.
A few months back I then bought the Player’s Guide Instructions Manual for $80 off ebay, in order to make this a complete EarthBound set (without the inserts). I’m selling it for $400. :) Wish me luck in selling it!
