Kid Icarus: Uprising Artwork

Kid Icarus: Uprising lands VERY soon exclusively for 3DS! The Angel touches ground on March 23rd, that’s in only four days on Friday! GET READY!

If you enjoy this article please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

Helping to promote the game and get fans excited is Club Nintendo, who is offering up free Kid Icarus: Uprising AR Idol Cards, for use with the AR Card Battling feature, wherein you can face two AR Cards towards each other and have them enter a battle! Using the Nintendo 3DS stereoscopic 3D camera, the characters, items, and weapons on the cards will pop up in front of your eyes and come to life before you! Six Kid Icarus: Uprising AR Cards will come included with the game out of a group of 20, and there are numerous ways to get your greedy mitts on additional cards! Have fun finding and collecting them, and trade them with your friends to try and collect a full set! (not sure how many cards there are total)

One of the ways to get some exclusive cards is via this limited time Kid Icarus: Uprising Club Nintendo AR Cards offer! The cards you’ll receive are: Great Reaper, Drill Arm, and Palutena (Rare)!

Medusa's Revenge Kid Icarus: Uprising Anime

Studio 4C impresses with it's handdrawn Medusa's Revenge Kid Icarus: Uprising anime exclusively on Nintendo Video!

Another way Nintendo is promoting Kid Icarus: Uprising is via an anime series of shorts developed by select famous anime studios that is currently running exclusively on Nintendo Video, a channel available to 3DS owners on their Nintendo 3DS. Go to the Nintendo Video Channel now and you can watch Thanatos Rising by Production I.G. in three installments, and the first installment of Medusa’s Revenge by Studio 4C! After Medusa’s Revenge, Kid Icarus: Uprising fans will have one more anime to look forward to, the next one by Shaft Inc.!

In my humble opinion the Thanatos Rising episode was pretty dumb, but Medusa’s Revenge was totally awesome so far. AND Medusa’s Revenge makes use of actual handdrawn artwork, instead of in-game quality CG.

Pre-Order Kid Icarus: Uprising for free 3D Classics: Kid Icarus!

Get 3D Classics: Kid Icarus for eShop free for pre-ordering Kid Icarus: Uprising for 3DS!

In addition, those who pre-order Kid Icarus: Uprising at GameStop, Amazon or Best Buy will get a special code included, that allows you to download a free copy of the exclusive 3D Classics: Kid Icarus! This special title (which, so far, has not been announced for release elsewhere) gives the stereoscopic, glasses-free remake treatment to the 8-bit NES classic “Kid Icarus”! Previous games in the “3D Classics” line include 3D Classics: Xevious (a game I’m totally addicted too!), 3D Classics: Excitebike, 3D Classics: Urban Champion, 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure and 3D Classics: TwinBee.

Here’s a trailer for Kid Icarus: Uprising!

I CAN’T WAIT for this game! Hopefully Nintendo will provide me with a review copy so I can review it for you guys! Who else is looking forward to Kid Icarus: Uprising, and do you think it represents a real “revival” of the 3DS? Considering the landslide of quality games that have hit the system since late last year.

I’m speaking of games like Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Pokemon Rumble Blast, Mario Kart 7, Resident Evil: Revelations, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Shinobi and Tetris Axis, they’ve really given the 3DS quite a great lineup.

When you consider all things, the 3DS has quite a great little library when you really think about it. :)

Club Nintendo Survey Expiration Dates

If you join Club Nintendo, as I’ve discussed before, you’ll become one heckofa happy fanboy/fangirl because you can register your new games for any system (Wii, DS, 3DS, Virtual Console, WiiWare, DSiWare, 3DS eShop/Virtual Console) as well as Nintendo systems themselves, and earn Coins! These Coins can then be used to purchase exclusive merchandise from Club Nintendo, or even purchase downloadable games for Club Nintendo Coins instead of Nintendo Points! These digital games change every month!

If you enjoy this article please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

So Club Nintendo is a GREAT SERVICE for fans who buy a lot of Nintendo titles. Games can be registered by using the Club Nintendo card with the printed code found inside the box of a new game (many used games won’t have this card or the code will have already been used, so beware). Now that DS and Wii games are dropping like a rock in price, it is the perfect time to pick up some games you missed out on and register them for major Coinage!

Once you input the code, you will be asked to fill out a survey, do so and you’ll earn the Coins. After doing this, you’ll unlock a “Post-Play” survey after a few days, which they ask you to fill out once you’ve played the game. All of this helps Nintendo to gain feedback on their products. Additionally, if there is an upcoming game you want to buy, you can fill out an “Intend to Buy” upcoming release survey, and you’ll earn 10 extra Coins when you register that game. More surveys such as User Satisfaction surveys will also pop-up from time to time, giving you the chance to earn bonus free Coins.

Club Nintendo Rewards

The lowest-tier rewards for Club Nintendo members

The amount of Club Nintendo rewards you can purchase is large and ever-growing! These include an exact, fully-functional replica of a classic 1980 Game & Watch “Ball” Unit, a kickass Super Mario Bros. Classic Shirt, Animal Crossing playing cards, DS Stylus & Game Card Cases, A Super Mario Bros. Hanafuda Cards Set, messenger bags, posters based on characters like Mario and Donkey Kong and series like Zelda and Mario, holders for your games and systems, Mario-branded shoe laces, screensavers, notebooks, folders, Japanese-style fans (like the ones Kitana from Mortal Kombat uses), branded towels, Wii Remote holders, patches, greeting cards, Wii Remote Wrist Strap sets, pen cases and two-exclusive Game & Watch Collection DS videogames, as well as an exclusive Wii game called “Grill Off With Ultra Hand”. All of this is in addition to the digital games that you can download for the Wii/3DS/DS eShops that change monthly. And, as stated, new items to purchase are added on a regular basis!

What’s not to love?

Here is a list of the Post-Play Satisfaction Survey To-Dos I have available in my Club Nintendo account and the date that they expire! Be sure to log-in to your account and get your surveys done before they expire!

As you can see, I really, really let my set of To-Dos get out of hand, so I have To-Dos going all the way back to the Wii’s launch with Zelda: Twilight Princess! :O

(Note: I assume all dates are 2012. Previously they were labeled 2013, 2014, etc. depending on the game, but the Club Nintendo redesign took away the year dates.)

Mario Party 2 Available on Club Nintendo for 150 Coins

Mario Party 2 Box (Front)

Western Mario stars in Mario Party 2 Boxart

This month’s Club Nintendo “Must Get” Game of the Month is Mario Party 2 for the Wii Virtual Console!

If you enjoy this article please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

Mario Party 2 is a casual, mini-game, party hit from the Nintendo 64 era, released on January 24, 2000 in North America (1999 in Japan) and is the sequel to the original 1999 Mario Party, a game that was a phenomenon of sorts during the 64-bit era and went on to spawn a series of Mario Party titles whose latest entry, Mario Party 9, releases for the Wii next month.

Like all game’s in the series, Mario Party 2 is a virtual-board game in which up to four human players (and computer-controlled opponents if you don’t have humans available) can compete against each other in a Monopoly-style game. Players make their way around the board by rolling dice and compete in various fun mini-games depending on the spaces they land on. The goal is to come out on-top of these minigames, which will net you Coins with which to purchase Stars. The player with the most Stars at the end of the game wins.

Gotta love the tree!

Players can land on spaces that do all kinds of different things, like steal Stars from players (Boo space), force players into mini-game contests, etc.

A new twist in this version is the introduction of Items players can buy that create all kinds of different effects when used. These can be purchased at the new Item Shop. A Bank Shop was also introduced that stores Coins and rewards a certain player with the pool. Also new is the fact that each of the game’s playable characters (Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Wario, and Donkey Kong) wear costumes based on the new themed boards that include Horror Land, Mystery Land, Pirate Land, Western Land, Space Land and Bowser Land.

While the original Mario Party had a total of 53 minigames, Mario Party 2 introduced 65 minigames to compete in! It also features an expanded single-player mode and all-new Battle mini-games, Item mini-games, and Duel mini-games.

If you aren’t a Club Nintendo member, you should definitely consider joining. The club rewards Nintendo fans with exclusive-purchasable merchandise and games by collecting Coins. Coins can be earned by registering Nintendo games and systems and taking surveys. Only these Coins can be used to purchase games and items. The games you can buy change each month!

You have until February 29th 2012 to purchase Mario Party 2 via Club Nintendo for only 150 Coins! (the equivalent of registering 3 games or so).

Additionally, available for 3DS owners, is Art Academy: First Semester for 150 Coins. A really cool “art studio” game (similar to Brain Age or something, an edutainment title), the first in a series that teaches you the basics of art, drawing and painting in a fun and easy-to-grasp videogame manner. Perfect for beginners who want to pick up some art skills. It’s perfect for the 3DS due to how you can use the touchscreen and stylus to draw as if you are using a piece of paper or an art panel.

Here’s a fun, but sad, tidbit. The original Mario Party 1 back in the day was eventually hampered by lawsuits relating to the way many of the game’s minigames charged players with winning by furiously rotating the N64′s Control Stick to come out on top. This caused some players to get blisters and hand injuries, and Nintendo had to settle related lawsuits.

Because of this, the original Mario Party 1 has yet to be released on Wii’s Virtual Console and was skipped in lieu of Mario Party 2.

Sadly, we may never see a re-release of Mario Party 1… hopefully Nintendo will wise-up and release it anyway or modify it in someway to take the control-stick twirling out. I think they should replace it with having to point at the screen with the Wii Remote and “rotate” your hand….

Mario Party 2 was originally released on the Wii Virtual Console on December 20th, 2010 and normally costs 1,000 Nintendo Points, or about $10 bucks. It’s also worth noting that a Classic Controller or GameCube controller is required to play Mario Party 2.

Here is a video of Mario Party 2 in action.

Sadly, Mario Party 2 does NOT feature online play; in keeping with most all Virtual Console titles which don’t feature major upgrades over the original versions. This is a major mistake by Nintendo, lets hope they someday get to updating these games with online play.

So if you’re going to purchase Mario Party 2, be sure you have some real-life friends to play it with and enough GameCube or Classic Controllers to go around!

Last but not least, here is a video of Art Academy: First Semester for 3DS eShop in action.
