Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Games Co-Developed by Namco Bandai. Including Teams Behind Tekken, Soul Calibur and Tales RPG Series

A New Challenger Approaches! Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS News

Namco Bandai is the new challenger, who will tackle Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS as co-developers!

Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS Namco Bandai?! The new Smash games are arguably the most exciting Nintendo games in development, and Nintendo dropped a bombshell during their latest Nintendo Direct Conference, telling fans everywhere that they have teamed up with Namco to help in the game’s development!

And Namco isn’t just any developer, but the team members involved in the creation of Tekken and SoulCalibur, as well as the Tales RPG series, will be directly involved in helping Nintendo craft the next Super Smash Bros.! Does this mean we can expect more of a real fighting-game style for the next Smash? Possibly.

According to director Masahiro Sakurai, a running prototype of the game is already in the hands of the developers, and is looking “pretty good.”

The release of the game is still very far off, and real development has only just begun. Namco was actually brought in so that the development time can be shortened, since Sakurai knows that people are so-clamoring for the new titles.

Skip to 7:12 in this Nintendo Direct June Conference Video to see more information on the new Super Smash Bros. games!

Here is what the developers have to say about the new Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS games so far:

Masahiro Sakurai
Hello, I’m Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the Super Smash Bros. series.

It’s my personal belief that the only time a creative product really resonates is in that first moment when it’s actually in front of you.

With that said, I’ve realized that if we keep the new Super Smash Bros. title’s development structure secret, it’ll only create more and more speculation, and I won’t be able to develop the game with any freedom. That’s why I’ve decided to announce this news right now, even though it’s still very early on.

I would love to provide more information, but for now, I’m going to stay quiet until I have something solid to show you.

The project has just gotten started. Bear in mind that not only are we developing two titles simultaneously, but we announced the project before we even started actual development, so I’m afraid we will likely have to keep you waiting for quite a while. Please be patient.

Currently, the prototype prepared by NAMCO BANDAI Games and NAMCO BANDAI Studios’ special team looks pretty good, and it’s working great. In order to take advantage of the fact that there will be versions for two different systems, and to maximize and offer fun new gameplay elements, the entire team is going to work hard together. Thank you.

Masaya Kobayashi
Hello, everyone. I’m Masaya Kobayashi of NAMCO BANDAI Studios. I’m so honored to be able to join the Smash Bros. team–that globally popular series of which Japan is particularly proud—and to work alongside of Mr. Sakurai.

In order to make Mr. Sakurai proud, we will take on this project with NAMCO BANDAI’s best staff! Yoshito Higuchi, the producer and the director of the “Tales” series, Tetsuya Akatsuka, producer and director of “Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs.,” the art director/sound director of the “SoulCalibur” series, the main development team staff from the “TEKKEN” series…and that’s just for starters. All the top creators from NAMCO BANDAI are gathered here to create a never-before-seen dream team for this project. We will fully utilize our experience and knowledge in action/fighting game development, technical capability, and organizational strength, and we hereby promise you that we will develop the best and most powerful “Super Smash Bros.” title ever! Don’t miss it!

Pokemon White 2 and Pokemon Black Version 2 Launch Fall 2012 for Regular DS. 3DS Features. Trailers and Videos of English Version

Pokemon White 2 and Pokemon Black 2 US Cover Artwork (DS)

Pokemon White 2 and Pokemon Black 2 will be launched this Fall 2012 and mark the final big-name titles for the regular DS from Nintendo, before the 3DS takes it over completely. And what better way than to send the great lil DS off than with all-new Pokemon RPG adventures, eh?

At the Nintendo Direct June 2012 conference, Nintendo revealed the first English trailer, although its more of a teaser, for Pokemon White Version 2 and Pokemon Black Version 2, which includes some brief gameplay video of the duo in action.

If you play the games on a 3DS, you will gain access to a few new features, namely two corresponding new Apps called “Pokemon Dream Radar”, which allows you to use Augmented Reality to catch Pokemon in your real-world environment, and transfer hard to catch Pokemon into your Pokemon Black 2 or White 2 game…. and Pokedex 3D Pro, which allows you to get detailed information on every known Pokemon and keep track of those you’ve collected.

Pokemon White 2 and Pokemon Black 2 feature a number of new features and additions over the previous versions of the game. They mark the first time Nintendo has released a bonafide sequel to a previous core Pokemon game, although these games are similar to the additional 1-year-later updated versions of previous games such as Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Crystal, Pokemon Emerald, and Pokemon Platinum.

The all-new Pokemon looks like this in gameplay.

Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 feature an evolved Unova region that has been covered in a mysterious ice. New Gyms and Gym Leaders have appeared, along with new cities and modified old cities. One of the biggest new changes to Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 are the re-introduction of old and beloved Pokemon, over 300 of them, that are available to catch from the very beginning. Unlike the original Pokemon White and Pokemon Black, which only featured 150 ALL-NEW Pokemon. Returning favorites include Psyduck, Mareep, Metagross and Riolu.

Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 also feature two new playable characters, a new rival, and a mysterious new Pokemon researcher named Achroma. And of course, each version features a new legendary Pokemon, as seen on the covers, called Black Kyurem and White Kyurem.

New Fire Emblem: Awakening 3DS Game (Fire Emblem: Kakusei In Japan) Coming to North America In 2013 Confirms Nintendo

Fire Emblem 3DS Logo

Fire Emblem: Awakening coming to America in 2013 exclusively for 3DS!

Fire Emblem: Awakening for Nintendo 3DS (or “Fire Emblem Kakusei” as it’s called in Japan) has been confirmed for American release thanks to the June 2012 Nintendo Direct Conference! It will be released sometime in 2013.

Here is a Japanese gameplay trailer for Fire Emblem: Awakening.

During the Nintendo Direct video, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime briefly mentioned the game, a title that has been highly anticipated in the Land of the Rising Sun; but garnered a lot more attention than is usual for the very fact that Nintendo was tight-lipped on whether the game would ever see the light of day in the West.

Thankfully it will!

Fire Emblem: Awakening marks the first time that the series has been released for the Nintendo 3DS next-gen portable, and the first-time that the series has seen paid downloadable content released for it. Unlike some of the more recent Fire Emblem games, Fire Emblem: Awakening marks an ALL-NEW entry in the critically acclaimed strategy RPG series, with all-new characters, story, scenarios, gameplay elements and more.

Fire Emblem: Awakening Battle Screenshot Gameplay (3DS)

Battles are more dynamic and cool looking than ever before in Fire Emblem: Awakening 3DS.

The new ability to Team Up with supporting characters for combo attacks is newly introduced, as is the ability to create your own customized character in the “My Unit” feature. You can have five skills at any one time, with surplus Skills held in a character Skill bank, and the game features a traversable World Map as seen in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones and Fire Emblem Gaiden, with the Special Skills from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance returning.

Relationships play a big role in Fire Emblem: Awakening, not only can characters get married, they can even have children! This includes your player-created character. Already released in Japan is the first DLC for the game which features Marth making his grand return! The popular Roy character (made famous in the West in Super Smash Bros. Melee) also returns as DLC.

3DS early adopters will notice that at least one of these games (Zelda 1) is already owned by them, as it was released as part of the 3DS Ambassador’s project for those who paid full price ($250) for a 3DS system before it got its major price-drop.

What 8bit Summer Virtual Console eShop games are you most excited about?

While these fans may be a bit disappointed, Nintendo is giving the world at large the chance to purchase these beloved hits (Like the original The Legend of Zelda), that early adopting 3DS owners have gotten to enjoy for a whole year now. And there will be many much-requested releases like Kid Icarus: Of Myth and Monsters, the Game Boy sequel to the NES original, and the third and final entry in the Super Mario Land Game Boy series, that introduced the world to Wario.

Both titles have been oft-requested, and have already been released in other territories, so it’s great that Nintendo of America is finally bringing these highly anticipated games to 3DS owners.

The Amazing Spider-Man New Movie Release Date is July 3 2012. Celebrate 4th of July With Spidey Film Reboot. Trailers, Wallpaper and Videos. James Garfield as Peter Parker, Marc Webb Directs

The Amazing Spider-Man Wallpaper of Reboot (Andrew Garfield Peter Parker)

Andrew Garfield as the new Spider-Man/Peter Parker.

The Amazing Spider-Man releases to theaters on July 3rd, 2012, with its debut hitting just in time for the 4th of July United States of America Independence Day celebrations. Will you be celebrating with Spidey?!

Here is The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer #3 Launch Trailer:

The Amazing Spider-Man represents the long-awaited reboot of the Spider-Man comicbook movie franchise following the trilogy of movies directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, and James Franco as Harry Osborn.

The Sam Raimi trilogy is what set the extremely-high precedent of amazing, jaw-dropping superhero films, and arguably is the movie that kickstarted superhero films into the stratosphere of success (though if followed the successful first X-Men film).

Additionally, fans both fell in love (and in hate) with Sam Raimi’s interpretation of the Spider-Man universe and the actors who played the characters from the comic universe in Spider-Man 1 (which starred the Green Goblin as the main villain), Spider-Man 2 (which starred Dr. Octopus as the main villain) and Spider-Man 3 (which starred Venom and The Sandman as main villains).

Here is The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer #2:

Thus, it will be interesting to see how audiences react to this new interpretation of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb (known for making music videos for bands like P.O.D. and Good Charlotte, whose only former film credit includes 500 Days of Summer) and starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Park/Spider-Man.

A new main villain (THE LIZARD) who was NOT seen during the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy of the 2000s (although he was heavily hinted at) will also make his debut in this film. Last but not least, The Amazing Spider-Man will reboot the origin story of Spider-Man; giving us a new interpretation and new perspective on how Peter Parker got his spider-like powers, how his Uncle Ben is killed, and how his troubled life with Aunt May post his uncle’s death and new superhero abilities play out.

It’ll be really interesting to see how successful The Amazing Spider-Man is and whether or not the film is financially more successful and earns more money than Sam Raimi’s trilogy. It’ll also be fun to see Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Peter Parker and how he is compared to Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of the famous and beloved characters. Last but not least, it’ll be interesting to see how director Sam Raimi’s interpretation of the Spider-Man universe is rated in comparison to director Marc Webb’s interpretation of this beloved comicbook universe and origin-story that fans know so well.

Here is a four-minute spoiler-filled (I’m sure) preview of The Amazing Spider-Man:

The Amazing Spider-Man Movie Superhero Wallpaper

Wallpaper for The Amazing Spider-Man 2012 movie. Awesome!

Will you be seeing Spider-Man during launch week? I can’t wait and have money saved up in order to see it the day it comes out! SUPER excited! :D
