Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Wii Edition (Project Zero 2) Coming to America? Game Is Europe-bound

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly – Wii Edition may come to America, and hopefully it will, but so far Project Zero 2: Wii Edition (as the game is known in Japan and Europe) is only coming to Europe and not to the United States.

The Fatal Frame series are horror games set in haunted locals where ghosts, gouls and evil spirits of all kinds haunt the game world, and the player must capture them using a special demonic camera… the games play much like Resident Evil, although are more similar to Silent Hill in the way the games play on your mind with psychological horror. Making good use of the ghosts that appear to make you feel like you are seeing things and like a haunted enemy could appear in front of you or around the corner at any time.

Fatal Frame 2 Wii Edition Gameplay

Exploring a creepy village in this Fatal Frame 2: Wii Edition gameplay screenshot.

Jump thrills and eerie, creepy appearances of specters abound, and overall the games are considered to be some of the scariest games of all time. In particular Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, in part due to the innocent nature of the game’s twin underage girls who star as the protagonists in the title… and the way the plot deals with the second sister becoming possessed while they are in a dark forest.

With Rising Star Games recently launching a U.S. arm however, and a growing crescendo of voices calling for the release of Pandora’s Tower in America (the third and final Wii RPG of a critically acclaimed trio without a U.S. release), the possibility that Fatal Frame 2 Wii will get an American release seems likely.

Beautiful glowing butterflies Fatal Frame 2 wallpaper. Haunting but pretty image, isn’t it?

In particular thanks to Nintendo’s lack of high-quality, triple-A Wii titles to tide people over until the eventual launch of the Wii U (which all signs point to hitting this year) at which point the original Wii will be all-but obsolete… thus Nintendo would be wise to pick up and release Fatal Frame 2 Wii since the game is so critically acclaimed and such a beloved cult-classic. Especially since the Fatal Frame games have yet to be digitally re-released, which means many people who didn’t play the originals likely still have not played them.

Quite frankly, the Wii could use another game like this (and hopefully Nintendo will come to their senses and release Fatal Frame IV in America too while they’re at it, while its still possible). We’ll likely learn whether or not the game will come to America at all though during E3 2012 (June 5-7).

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly was originally released for the PlayStation 2 as the sequel to the original Fatal Frame (2001: PS2, Xbox) and was released later on for the original Xbox in a Director’s Cut edition. A third entry in the series, Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented was released in 2005 exclusively for PS2 on last-gen consoles. Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (2008) was created as a Wii-exclusive, although sadly the game was never localized after receiving bad review scores in Japan….

Here’s a trailer for Fatal Frame IV for Wii.

Well it looks like Tecmo wanted to give another shot at Fatal Frame on Wii, because that’s exactly what we get with Fatal Frame 2: Wii Edition. In additional to providing all the survival horror, ghost-seeking thrills of the original game. This new version includes some new features, including: updated graphics, redesigned main characters, all-new endings, a Wii Pointer-controlled Flashlight, a new third-person camera viewpoint and an all-new multiplayer Haunted House mode, in which plays experience fear through random events as a group, and their “fear meter” is determined at the end. Er, something like that.

Either way, this is a very cool addition to the Wii’s lineup, and it’s always great to see a Fatal Frame game get the spotlight. I am and have always been a big fan of the survival horror genre, and always had an affinity for the Fatal Frame series ever since I played the original game for the original Xbox. Hopefully this new Wii version of Fatal Frame 2 will also contain all the additions from the Director’s Cut Xbox1 version of the original game.

Project Zero 2 – Wii Edition will be released in Europe on June 29th, 2012, exclusively for Wii.

Wii U $300 Price To Be Cost of New Nintendo System? Rumor and Speculation

Wii U Controller & TV Photo by GameTyrant

Wii U price $300 dollars? That may be what Nintendo will charge for the upcoming next-generation console, according to a new rumor.

Reportedly, the cost of the components that the Wii U is made of tap out at a price of about $180, which means that Nintendo would be making a substancial profit if the final Wii U price ends up being $300 or anything above that amount. As the launch price of systems go, according to history, $300 is actually fairly cheap to charge for an all-new videogame system, particularly one that has such an advanced tablet (with its own built-in touchscreen, like an iPad) as a controller.

Of course, we don’t know how accurate the report is regarding the component parts that make up the Wii U, so all of this should be taken with a grain of salt. It is simply speculation after all. But the source at “Forget the Box” claims its component prices are accurate.

The Wii U System & Controller Tablet

The Wii U console with tablet controller. Will it cost $300?

Additionally, the same source says that the GPU that powers the Wii U will be in line with the power of competing current-generation consoles (Xbox 360 & PS3), while exceeding them to a lesser degree, but not exponentially being more powerful. Nintendo went this route in order to “keep hardware costs down to maximize profits” according to reports.

How much do you think the Wii U will cost at launch and is $300 too high of a cost for you to pay for the Wii U system? Considering that the PS3 launched at a whopping $600 (and that iPads still go for that high) and that the Xbox 360 launched at $400, then $300 seems like an entirely reasonable price, and I think that may be the price Nintendo does indeed launch at.

We may learn the price details of the Wii U at E3 2012 (June 5–7), although Nintendo has gone on record saying we WON’T learn the price at E3. But we’ll wait and see.

Here’s the debut video of the Wii U from E3 2011.

Andy Rooney’s Funniest Video – Andy Rooney On Computers, Bill Gates, Off Being On (Start) and Typewriters

I hate computers art. Girl shooting monitor. Do you hate computers?

Many people hate computers for the headaches they cause. Do you?

Andy Rooney’s funniest video is Computers, Bill Gates and Typewriters in my humble opinion. This clip is just absolutely outstanding, hilarious and awesome.

It’s so funny in fact that I went and got my parents immediately after watching it the first time, and they had a rip-roaring laugh in reaction to this priceless 60 Minutes piece. I later showed it to the rest of my family.

The late, great, late 80-year-old Andy Rooney talks about the difficulty of writing on computers, and how that compares to the many, many books he wrote on his 1920s typewriter. He then goes on a hilarious tirade on all the crazy things computers and early Windows Operating Systems require you to do… such as having you “stop” or “turn-off” the computer by clicking… “Start”. Hahahahaha. I love it.

Song Video of the Day – The Sphere of Hip-Hop By Mars iLL (From Raw Material Album)

DJ Dust and Manchild Mars iLL Photo

Mars iLL is DJ Dust on the left and rapper Manchild on the right.

Sphere Of Hip-Hop Part 1 and Part 2 from Mars iLL’s Raw Material album is a mind-blowing rap that mixes profound thoughts on life and hip-hop and how to the two collide with some awesome lines.

Mars iLL is arguably the group that made me into a hip-hop fan more than any other. This is not rap music, this is true hip-hop, no Eminem-style stuff here. The production quality isn’t super high, instead what you get is some raw rap with lots of turntable scratching and sampling in true oldschool hip-hop fashion. But it is some might good stuff!

Sphere of Hip Hop Part 1 and Sphere of Hip-Hop Part 2 are two of the greatest Christian hip-hop tracks ever recorded if you ask me, and I’ve been a big fan of Mars iLL since their debut major label album “Raw Material” dropped in 2000 (with the major label re-release in 2001 on Uprok Records, part of Tooth & Nail).

Sphere of Hip-Hop Part 1

Max Payne 3 Release Date Is May 15, 2012. Rockstar Online Pass Price and Details (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)

Max Payne 3 Wallpaper

Max Payne 3 Wallpaper showcasing the adult style of the long-awaited third game in the series.

Max Payne 3 will be released on May 15, 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Developed by Rockstar Games, it is the long-awaited third entry in the popular last-generation Max Payne series of third-person action adventure shooter games.

A dramatic, cinematic series, the original Max Payne made its debut a few years following the infinitely popular first Matrix film (2001, Matrix was released in 1999) and capitalized on that films success by being the first videogame to offer a slow-motion shooting mechanic, wherein the player could slow down time. Literally ripped straight from The Matrix and called the “Bullet Time” mechanic (amazing there wasn’t a lawsuit!), this allowed players to more easily dodge incoming gunfire from enemies or alternatively make it easier to hit them with your own shots.

Naturally “Bullet Time” returns in Max Payne 3, as you can see in this epic Max Payne 3 Bullet Time trailer.

Photo of the Day – Thunder In the Desert (Phoenix, AZ Rainstorm May 9, 2012)

Thunder In the Desert - Dark Stormclouds Phoenix, AZ May 9, 2012

Dark, foreboding rainclouds appeared over Phoenix today. Always cause for rejoicing!

Thunder in the desert! Phoenix Arizona got hit with a thunderstorm today (May 9, 2012), lightning, rain, wind, powerful gusts. The whole nine years!

The weather is a funny thing, isn’t it? The weather means different things to different people depending on where you live. In Phoenix, rain and wind are cause for celebration! Kids jump around and run in the rain like they’ve never seen water before, and even adults crowd around the open doors to bask in the glory that is water from the Heavens. Everyone is excited and happy!

That of course, is due to the normally hot weather. In many places that get too much rain, water and stormclouds are something to be upset about, and cause people to get depressed. But not so here in Phoenix! BRING ON THE THUNDER IN THE DESERT! :D

Phoenix Thunderstorm May 9, 2012 USA

…..Rain and dark stormclouds, powerful windgusts, and more over the mountains of Phoenix, AZ on May 9, 2012.

What States Allow Gay Marriage? What States Ban Gay Marriage? 7 To 35 Is the Answer (USA Map)

Gay Marriage In the United States of America State by State (2012)

….35 States Ban Gay Marriage, 7 Allow Gay Marriage, 11 States Recognize Civil Unions, 3 States Vote on Gay Marriage in 2012

What states ban gay marriage and what states allow gay marriage? The United States has several individual states that have laws that either allow same-sex marriage, or do not allow same-sex marrirage in their state.

The laws are anything but uniform, and I won’t get into the gritty details on whether the law is a constitutional amendment, or just a normal law passed by the legistature, that either allows or doesn’t allow gay marriage. Instead I’ll simply give you the STRAIGHT facts so you can easily understand which U.S. states support gay marriage, and which prohibit gay marriage.

Table of Contents

35 STATES BAN GAY MARRIAGE

1. Alabama (Banned in 2006)
2. Alaska (Banned in 1998)
3. Arizona (Banned in 2008 after failing total ban in 2006)

24. Ohio (Banned in 2004)
25. Oklahoma (Banned in 2004)
26. Oregon (Banned in 2004)
27. South Carolina (Banned in 2006)
28. South Dakota (Banned in 2006 with less than 55% of vote for)
29. Tennessee (Banned in 2006)
30. Texas (Banned in 2005)
31. Utah (Banned in 2004)
32. Virginia (Banned in 2006)

AND
7. Washington DC

3 STATES WILL VOTE ON GAY MARRIAGE BAN THIS YEAR 2012

1. Maryland

4. Washington State

11 STATES RECOGNIZE CIVIL UNIONS OR DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH SIMILAR MARRIAGE BENEFITS

1. California
2. Delaware
3. Hawaii
4. Illinois
5. Main
6. Nevada
7. New Jersey
8. Oregon
9. Rhode Island
10. Washington State
11. Wisconsin

The first of the states to vote on banning or allowing gay marriage this year is North Carolina. That vote was held yesterday (May 8, 2012), and as I reported, North Carolina Amendment 1 Passed Banning Gay Marriage Via State Constitutional Amendment. Will the other states follow suit in banning gay marriage this year? Or will they vote to allow it? We’ll have to wait and see.

So far, starting in 1998, 33 times voters in a state have been given the option to ban gay marriage or allow it. In all but one occassion, they voted to ban gay marriage and NOT to allow gay marriage. The only time the voters turned the gay marriage ban down, was in Arizona in 2006 (my home state). Two years later an amendment to the constitution to ban gay marriage was written and passed, but it recognizes Civil Unions. So gay marriage is illegal in Arizona, but Civil Unions are recognized. Similar bills exist in other states, you’ll have to look that info up yourself to find out exactly how the laws read. What is listed above means that gay marriage is effectively legal, or illegal, in the states that allow it or reject it. You can see what states recognize Civil Unions or Domestic Partnerships with some of the same benefits as a legal married couple (one man and one women) in the fourth list.

Dark Souls Sales Are 1.19 Million Sold. Namco Sells 770,000 Tales of Xillia and 690,000 Soulcalibur V. Best Year For Publisher Since 2008

Dark Souls Wallpaper

Dark Souls Wallpaper as the game sales pass 1.19 million!

Dark Souls has sold 1.19 million copies, helping push Namco to their best fiscal year in sales since 2008! The Japanese publisher’s portfolio was led by From Software’s Dark Souls, the popular sequel to the hit RPG Demon’s Souls, but had a number of other hits as well.

Here is the Dark Souls launch trailer.

Among Namco Bandai’s best-selling titles were Ace Combat: Assault Horizon which sold an astounding 1.7 million copies, and was a reboot of the series following 2006′s Xbox 360-exclusive Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation (which only sold 700,000 copies worldwide). Selling nearly a million copies were the following titles: One Piece: Pirate Warriors (940,000 copies sold), Tales of Xillia (770,000 sold, Japan only. Not out in the West yet), Soulcalibur V (690,000 sold) and Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (700,000 copies sold).

Those numbers for Soulcalibur V must have been a bit disappointing, as Soulcalibur has always been a huge series for Namco Bandai, to have it beaten out by the latest Japanese RPG in the Tales series seems like it’d be embarrassing.

Here is the Soulcalibur V launch trailer.

All in all, the fiscal year ended with Namco Bandai earning $5.7 billion in revenue, that’s ¥454.2 billion, which is their best since March of 2008 and up 15%. Net profits were $241.8 million (¥19.3 billion) which is also their best performance in four years and 10 times what they earned last year. Dark Souls obviously, was a huge contributor to that haul.

Namco Bandai anticipates a more difficult fiscal year ahead, as the publisher doesn’t have as many heavy hitters in its lineup, although it does have some. They include the sci-fi FPS Inversion, the Fighting game Tekken Tag Tournament 2, a Dragon Ball Z Kinect title for Xbox 360, the international release of One Piece: Pirate Warriors and a PC version of Dark Souls.

Here is a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 trailer.

North Carolina Amendment 1 Passes. Banning Gay Marriage Via State Constitutional Amendment

One Man + One Woman = Marriage

…. Marriage is now defined as one man and one woman in North Carolina, as voters reject gay marriage in constitutional amendment 1.

North Carolinians have taken a bold step and banned Same Sex marriage permanently in that state by Amending the Constitution to do so with “Amendment 1″.

The constitutional amendment was introduced by the Republican House once they gained a oft-sought-after majority in the State House during the 2010 elections. This was a feat not accomplished in North Carolina in 140 years. However the proposed amendment also enjoyed a majority in the State Senate, both of which approved the measure allowing it to be sent to the statewide ballot for a vote to either approve or reject the amendment by the people of the State of North Carolina. The State House approved the constitutional amendment gay marriage ban 75-42, and the Senate passed the constitutional amendment gay marriage ban in a vote of 30-16.

Finally, the North Carolina people approved the constitutional amendment gay marriage ban by a vote of 58% to 42%. These numbers are official but not complete, as that is with 35% of the precincts reporting, however it is enough to project that the constitutional amendment gay marriage ban will PASS by a very large measure.

This represents a huge victory for supporters of banning gay marriage, and a huge setback for gay-marriage supporters, as it further cements the opposition of the vast majority of Americans at large with their acceptance of gay marriage when it comes to voting on it. Additionally, the only way to overturn a constitutional amendment is to go through the constitutional amendment process a second time, and successfully win a second vote to repeal the measure. This essentially cements, permanently, gay marriage in the state of North Carolina for the forseeable future.

Here is how the Amendment 1 reads:

Sec. 6. Marriage.
Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State. This section does not prohibit a private party from entering into contracts with another private party; nor does this section prohibit courts from adjudicating the rights of private parties pursuant to such contracts.

Gay marriage was already banned in the state of North Carolina by law, with the legislating voting to ban gay marriage, but the constitutional amendment has now added language saying that marriage is defined ONLY as between one man and one woman, to the actual state constitution itself. This is the only way to ensure that law is written in stone, and cannot be overturned by the will of the legislature or the courts (Unless the United States Supreme Court were to vote in favor of gay marriage nation-wide, in a matter where the federal law trumped state law). In other words, the ban on gay marriage could not be lifted at a whim, and now will require SIGNIFICANT support in favor of gay marriage, with that support coming from a majority of both the people of the state and the state government, to overturn what has now been set in place.

Additionally, this constitutional amendment went much further than the previous law, and bans other types of marriage from being defined as “marriage”, including various types of domestic unions (closing the door on gay unions being recognized in any way as having the same rights as heterosexual marriage) and voiding other types of unions from having legal status. This could complicate some other matters in the state and disrupt protection orders for unmarried couples, for example.

Here is a video showing off those who were against Amendment 1 and the constitutional amendment gay marriage ban.

As you can imagine, this constitutional amendment gay marriage ban received heavy national interest from all parties that had a vested interest in the outcome or pushing the opinion of those with strong views either for or against. President Barack Obama’s cabinet voiced their support of gay marriage, and urged the people of the State of North Carolina to vote against the ballot; including Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Vice President Joe Biden. President Barack Obama, in the wake of the ballot’s passing, has voiced his displeasure with the ballot passing, saying he is “disappointed” in the outcome. Bill Clinton was opposed as were many other very loud voices. Opponents of the measure also held rallies and marches, public speeches, and ran TV ads against the constitutional amendment gay marriage ban, to the tune of $3 million. Among those who were against the measure included Jay Bakker, son of televangelists Jim Bakker and the late Tammy Faye Bakker.

However a great many were also for the constitutional amendment gay marriage ban and spent around $3 million campaigning in support. Including The Rev. Billy Graham, who featured a full-page newspaper ad supporting the amendment at age 93. Naturally, church leaders, pastors, Christian heavyweights voiced their support for the ballot, among others.

We’ll have to wait for official numbers to find out exactly how wide the divide was between supporters and opponents of the constitutional amendment gay marriage ban. Reportedly turnout was expected to be 2 million, which would eclipse the amount of voters who turned out in the state to vote during the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Proving that interest in voting for the ballot was extremely high and widespread.

Here is a video showing off those who were for Amendment 1 and the constitutional amendment gay marriage ban.

….. Wow look at that. I couldn’t even find a single video of support for Amendment 1 on youtube. As always, the silent majority spoke. It is always those who speak the loudest who think they got everything in the bag… despite the vast convergence of mass media against the ballot, it has now passed. It’ll be interesting to see whether this ballot’s passing effects additional states who may rise up to vote against gay marriage.
