Silent Hill 1 (PSX) Videogame Soundtrack Download (Free) – Episode 1

Silent Hill 1 PSX Artwork - CD (Europe)

The artwork featured on the European Silent Hill 1 PS1 Soundtrack CD.

Videogame soundtracks are a beautiful thing, yet many people do not even know they exist. They DO exist and I plan to highlight them here, plus give you a link so you can download each soundtrack yourself and listen to the whole thing with one click.

The files will be zipped, so you’ll need a zipping program to unzip and listen to them (each was personally zipped by me, so you can trust that they will work perfectly and are free of anything that would harm your computer). Hopefully you will be able to discover some new music that you never would have listened to before, or catch up on music from a favorite or classic game that you never got around to downloading.

Creepy Silent Hill 1 Soundtrack Artwork (PS1 Europe)

A creepy girl from the Silent Hill 1 European Soundtrack Art.

The sad reality is that most people do not purchase videogame soundtracks, they simply download them online. Although I will be contributing to this, many of them are not officially available or are hard to come by through official sources or typical music stores. Although that has become easier in recent years. You can even buy videogame soundtracks via the PlayStation Network. When possible I will link to where you can officially purchase the soundtrack. One of the best ways you can do so however is by simply purchasing the game.

Either way, popularizing videogame soundtrack listening by spreading the love is a noble endeavor, and will only seek to make people more aware of the videogame music genre as a whole. So sit back, download and enjoy. :)

Akira Yamaoka is the long-time composer of the Silent Hill series and responsible for part of the main aspect of Silent Hill’s success and the reason that the game became so popular and beloved… the insanely creepy sound, music and effects which played psychological tricks on the players mind to enhance fear. He (Yamaoka) also worked on other Konami games including Snatcher (1994), Contra: Shattered Soldier (2002), Rumble Roses (2004), No More Heroes 2 (2010), Lollipop Chainsaw (2012), Rumble Roses XX (2006), Sine Mora (2012), and Shadows of the Damned (2011).

…. Silent Hill musician Akira Yamaoka welding a guitar at a symphony. He composed the unnerving music of the Silent Hill games.

Akira Yamaoka has also worked on every succeeding Silent Hill game including Silent Hill 1 (1999), Silent Hill 2 (2001), Silent Hill 3 (2003), Silent Hill 4: The Room (2004), Silent Hill: Origins (2007), Silent Hill: Homecoming (2008), Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (2009), Silent Hill: Book of Memories (2012) and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D (2012), the upcoming 2nd film. Providing vocals on the Silent Hill soundtrack is Vanesa Quiroz and helping to compose on all the tracks was Rika Muranaka. Rika has also sung on many other Konami games, some of her other work includes the Metal Gear Solid series (1, 2 and 3), Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Silent Hill.

This album was only officially released in Europe and Japan, which is strange considering that Silent Hill for PS1 was released in the United States before anywhere else. The entire running time of the album is 1 hour, 11 minutes and 48 seconds. The Silent Hill Official Soundtrack was released in Japan on March 5, 1999 and in Europe on July 26, 1999. The ID # for the Japanese album is: KICA-7950, and the ID for the Europe album is: KOE-CDS-002.

The album contains 42 songs in total. Here is the complete tracklist, click the link above to download the full album. Enjoy! :)

MyDad: Bullfrogs, Bullies and The Troggs

Phoenix, Arizona 1950s Orchids and Farmer Fields (Camelback Mountain)

……This 1950s aerial photo shows how Phoenix, Arizona was brimming with Orange Groves, orchids & Farmer’s Fields. This is how I remember Phoenix.

Years and years ago there was a farmer’s field just right off our little neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if our new little suburb wasn’t carved right out of a corner of this good old Farmer’s Land. I remember a wide ditch that was dry and grassy… that ran crosswise, dividing our tract-homes neighborhood.

This large, wide, dry ditch stopped right where houses ended and the Farm Land began. Anyway, for a good half a mile or so, just inside the Farmer’s fence, was about a 30 to 40 yard wide swath of jungle land… Well, to us kids it seemed that way. I think it was probably what was left of a wind-break area with a large ditch-like canal running through it. It had little pools and ponds here and there. A much larger canal ran through the farmland for about a mile or so, caddycorner to the little windbreak, oasis area. There was quite a bit of brush with large trees – Cottonwood, Willows, Tamarisk, Palo Verdes, etc.

Well, the kind farmer would allow us kids to play in this area… As long as we didn’t bother anything over toward the barn and farm implements… Tractors, equipment and such. The Farmer would even come over and talk to us boys now and then; and we would say “Yes sir”, “No sir”, when talking to him. Always in a very polite manner as was custom for talking to an adult in those days.

I remember he was a leathery, rough-looking guy, but very mild mannered and soft-spoken to our little group of kids. Well, this little oasis was loaded with wildlife of all kinds… Frogs, toads, fish in the ditches, quail and dove, we’d see an owl now and then, horned toad too… But mostly I remember the bullfrogs. Big and round, they’d cover both hands when we’d hold them. Oh yeah, there were some ducks that hung around there also.

Christown Mall Phoenix, Arizona. Named after Farmer Chris Harri

This ol’ Farmer reminds me of the kind man who’d let us play on his farm…

We kids built a fort next to a little pond with some lumber we scavenged in the alleys running through the neighborhood, and by using some of my dad’s tools (secretly borrowed). The Farmer inspected our little fort and allowed us to keep it up. We used to take along canteens full of water, a big lunch and spend whole days playing there. Swimming, playing Army, climbing trees, etc.

Well turns out we weren’t the only group that wandered this desert jungle land… The O’Grady Bros. would show up now and then. Their leader, Ruffy O’Grady, wasn’t a very pleasant sort… seemed he was always looking for mischief or trouble.

One of my younger brothers had a great affinity towards the bullfrogs… I think he might have even named a few. I remember him loading them into his metal Tonka Truck toy and driving the bullfrogs around in the back of it, taking them on the roadways we’d carved by our little fort. Well, one day… We were at the pond area just playing and whanot… when here comes walking through the brambles… who else but Ruffy O’Grady, his brothers, and a few pals.

Bullfrog in the Grass

Bullfrogs like this were loved by me and my bros. Especially my younger brother.

They were carrying B.B. Guns and Pellet Guns… They said they were looking for a turtle that was their’s. We said we hadn’t seen any turtles… Ruffy noticed the Bullfrogs and started shooting his B.B. Gun into a big one that was sitting close-by. My little brother was outraged, and started to try and stop Ruffy. Then, laughing loudly, Ruffy called to his sidekicks… “Hey, let’s shoot some bullfrogs!”… And they commenced to shoot and kill each and every bullfrog. When I stood up to them, a pellet gun was pointed at me… along with the words, “You don’t own these Bullfrogs.” We stepped back and watched as Ruffy and his cohorts killed maybe 20 big Bullfrogs. After the massacre was over, they rambled off through the thicket, laughing and shouting taunts over their shoulders as they went. As you can imagine, my brother was devastated. They’d killed his good little buddies, his innocent buddies.

This episode has stayed in my mind all these years. Ruffy was a few years older than me and some of his sidekicks were his age. I think it was the next summer that someone broke into the Farmer’s Barn… that was always off-limits, and then set the barn on fire. The police never caught who did it. And the Farmer closed off his property with barbed wire and a “No Trespassing” sign. Our happy times in the oasis were over.

Ruffy Shooting Bullfrogs. Massacring them in Phoenix, Arizona 1960s

This feller is apparently shooting Bullfrogs. Maybe it’s Ruffy’s or his dad…. Hmm….

Over the years, I always suspected the O’Grady’s were the ones behind that fire that destroyed our beloved jungle oasis. Ruffy was an infamous firebug in our parts, and was well-known to have set fires. He even set cats on fire and was always performing hideous and devious deeds of that nature.

Well a few years later, I started lifting weights and working out with my older bro and a few friends in our backyard. We had a Speed Bag, A Heavy Bag, and a real good set of Iron Weights and even a Bench Press. We really got into it…

An old Transistor Radio

A Transistor Radio… takes you back to them good ol’ days.

I had a Transistor Radio I’d gotten for my 14th birthday from the Hobby Shop. You could hold it in one hand. It was covered in brown leather, with a strap or grip on it. I loved that radio… We’d tune in Kriz or Krux Radio Stations and listen to the Top 40 while working out. That’s when I first heard “Wild Thing” by a group called “The Troggs”. Whenever the DJ would say their name, “The Troggs”, I’d be reminded of Ruffy O’Grady and the Bullfrogs.

Well, I remember running into old Ruffy probably a few years later. We were both getting out of our car’s and walking into a local grocery store, and standing in the lobby area. One of my buddies yelled, “Hey! There’s Ruffy O’Grady!”. When I looked I beheld… A short, skinny, reddish-blonde-haired young man. He just stared at me with a funny, somewhat scared look on his face. I just smiled and said, “Hi there Ruffy. How are ya?” That’s just the type of guy I was, I’m not one to hold grudges. He mumbled something and slinked away.

That was the last time I saw the Great Ruffy O’Grady. Not sure what became of him, I wish him the best…. Although a number of years later, I heard that some vandals had burned down the old Gradeschool I went to… a historic building that was built in 1897 for the Farm Kids way North of Phoenix. It made me think of ol’ Ruffy for some reason. I always wondered if he wasn’t the one behind it…

Ya know, it’s funny about the Bully’s you know from your youth. They seem to stay kids… as we all grow and mature. Boy I sure liked that nice Farmer guy. I always hoped he didn’t think we had anything to do with his barn fire….

Well, that’s enough about the old days for now… God-Speed and Fare-thee-well.

TV Show Review: Gilmore Girls The Deer Hunters – Episode 4, Season One

Lorelei & Max Gilmore Girls The Deer Hunters (Season 1, Episode 4)

People simply do not come more beautiful than Max & Lorelei. Or more perfect for each other.

Gilmore Girls Episode 4: The Deer Hunters (Season One) is a really charming and fun episode that introduces us to a new major character, and potential Lorelai love interest, known as Rory’s teacher “Max Medina”.

Max is an absolutely outstanding actor whom you quickly fall in love with (played by Scott Cohen). I mean seriously, I’m not one to say another guy is handsome or whatnot, which is just weird to me. But if I were a girl, I’d hit that…. Ahem. The charm of the guy just drips off the screen, and the chemistry he has with Lorelei is absolutely sensational. From the opening scene of him teaching the class, you’ll be hard pressed not to like him. He just seems like the perfect guy. Dang now I’m gushing aren’t I? I am not gay I promise. ;) Ahem part 2.

The plot of “The Deer Hunters” centers around a major upcoming test that amounts to 20% of Rory’s grade for the semester… the main thrust of the plot kicks off when Rory gets a D on a paper before the exam in Max’s class. As you’d expect, she is positively crushed by the low grade (having never gotten anything less than an A her whole life) and torpedoes herself into hyper-cram overdrive, preparing for the upcoming major test, hoping to remedy the situation.

Rory Gets "D" On School Paper (Gilmore Girls The Deer Hunters, Season 1 Episode 4)

A look of sorrow and horror, as Rory finds out she got a D on her paper. The world ends.

However a series of events takes place that causes Rory to be late for the test. Including staying up all night studying, falling asleep on the kitchen table with Lorelai, and …. getting hit by a deer in her jeep while driving to school in a rush, thus the title. And no she didn’t hit the deer… the deer hit her!

This is a really great episode and it shows us some new sides of Rory, including an angry Rory who lashes out at Paris and Triston after arriving at the school too late to take the test… causing her to be escorted out of the classroom by Max Medina after she gets in both Paris and Triston’s faces (but both of them deserved it, snickering and such at her as she arrives to the class late). This type of emotion is out-of-character for Rory so it is really interesting to see it take place. And the way she does it is still so innocent, you can’t help but smile. It’s really cute. (Rory turns to face Triston, “And YOU! For the last time! The name iS RORYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! *screams in his face*” The way she yells the last part as loud as she can is hilarious lol).

Rory Yells At Triston (The Deer Hunters, Gilmore Girls Screenshot. Season 1, Episode 4)

Rawr!!!!!!! “And YOU! For the last time, the name is RORY!!!!!!!!!!” I love this scene. So hilarious.

Just as interesting is to see the chemistry between Lorelai and Max Medina, as she meets Rory’s teacher for the first time. During their introduction, Lorelai is a complete klutz and draws attention to herself from the other parents in the room for her comedic outbursts and informal nature (making a beeline for the coffee at first sight, for example). As always, this is played perfectly during the scene and is hilarious and fun to watch because it’s so well acted by Lauren Graham.

Neither Max nor Lorelei are flirting per se, but there is electricity there that’s palpable. You can sense the way they are drawn to each other’s personalities and find each other extremely attractive. And the sense of chemistry between them fits so well as I already stated, that you can’t help but to immediately love them both and desire to see them together. From the jump you can tell that Max thinks Lorelai is the most beautiful girl he has ever seen (with good reason) and her quick wit, amazing natural beauty and electrifying sense of humor easily wins him over (as it does to anyone who has watched the show).

Headmaster Charleston also gets some screentime in this episode between him, Max and Lorelai as Lorelei confronts the duo in the Headmaster’s office to try and persuade them to allow Rory to retake the test even though she was late. What ensues is a great monologue from Lorelai regarding the impossible standards of Chilton and how it takes good girls like Rory and breaks them. Once again Lorelai acts with a palpable sense of emotion, frustration and anger that is fantastic to watch, especially as she boils over. And it is even funner to witness her getting upset because it happens in front of Max Medina… naturally, making Lorelei upset is the LAST thing he wants to do… As such, Max tries his best to cool the situation down as he doesn’t want to look like the bad guy and turn off Lorelai.

Lorelei Confronts Max & Headmaster Charleston in Anger & Frustration

…. Anger, Frustration, Discontent, Lorelei confronts Max & Headmaster Charleston & gives an epic monologue.

Lane gets a few scenes in this episode too, as Rory calls her while she is driving to the school to take the test (right before the deer… “accident”), and we get to see how Lane transforms her closet into a really funky, 1970s style fun room and makes it her hangout place, while hiding it from her mother.

Another really funny scene in this episode involves Luke. Following a little fight between Rory and Lorelai (due to Lorelai wanting ice cream and bugging Rory over and over when she is trying to study), Rory ends up studying at Luke’s diner instead of at the house. As Rory is writing on a piece of paper, her pencil breaks and she tosses it onto the table in frustration. Luke brings her a piece of pie and sets it on the table.

Luke: “Here.” *places pie on table* Rory: “What’s that?” Luke: “You look like you need pie.” Rory: “I do?” Luke: “Violent pencil tossing usually signals a NEED for pie.” Rory: “What if I’d thrown a pen?” Luke: “I’d have brought you a trout.” Rory: “What?!” Luke: “I don’t make the rules, I just carry them out.” Classic.

Luke Pie to Rory (The Deer Hunters, Gilmore Girls Episode 4, Season 1)

……. Rory: What the HELL IS THAT?! Luke: Pie. Violent pencil throwing signals a need. A NEED FOR PIE. :D Awesome.

Overall this is a really good episode. Arguably the best one yet. :)

Guilty Pleasure Song of the Day – Rush by Aly & AJ (From their Debut Into the Rush Album)

Aly & AJ Rush Music Video ScreenshotOkay guys and gals, time for something completely different: Guilty Pleasure Song of the Day.

Guilty Pleasure Song #1 – Rush By Aly & AJ

If you’ve kept track of my Song of the Day articles, you’ve probably noticed by now that my main affinity lies with Christian metal, as well as a sprinkling of Rap & Hip-Hop. In actuality I am a HUGE metal fan and that’s almost all I listen to. I am a true headbanger. But I also love rap music and I listen to a lot of Christian rap as well.

What else do I listen to? My guilty pleasure is actually the bubbliest kind of pop known to man. I’m talking about stuff like Hillary Duff, The Spice Girls and yes, Aly & AJ. Maybe it’s because of my younger sister who used to have all of these bubbly preteen pop albums, and one day I decided to pop one in and listen to it and I enjoyed it. From then on I’ve found it kinda easy to like a lot of the preteen girl pop out there. In addition to a few more “normal” pop albums like Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne and Stacie Orico.

So my guilty pleasure is definitely, without a doubt. Pop music. I still stay away from certain heavily secular songs, so a lot of modern-day pop like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, doesn’t appeal to me. I think one of things that I enjoy about the preteen pop is the innocence of it. Stuff like Britney Spears literally makes me wanna gag. Or Christina Aguillera and her uber-sexual song like Dirrty. Ugh. Really? REALLY. Grown ups actually listen to that, eh? Of course they don’t, I’m sure it’s all teenage boys, but that song was NOMINATED for “Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals” at the 45th Grammy Awards. And yes that’s why I don’t listen to much secular music. Case closed.

Sooooo, that leads me to… Aly & AJ. Who are now known as “78violet” (and are both Christians I might ad, like the Jonas Brothers). I must confess that most of my Guilty Pleasure stuff are more individual songs than albums and I usually haven’t followed the artist after the album. With a few exceptions. But its not like Demon Hunter, Becoming the Archetype or The Showdown where I own each and every album and know every single song and the accompanying lyrics and listen to them all the time. Having said that, I have nothing against picking up more of the stuff from these artists, its just that I haven’t.

Rush is the first track and title song of the album “Into the Rush” (Released on August 16, 2005) by Aly & AJ (now known as 78Violet). The song was the first huge hit for sisters Alyson and Amanda Michalka and helped propel the Disney-backed album and the duo into stardom. This album was followed by a Christmas album entitled “Acoustic Hearts of Winter (2006)” and their Sophomore record called “Insomniatic” (July 10, 2007).

A third album was recorded for their Disney label (Hollywood Records) and was to be self-titled 78violet, after their official new name-change. However the album was infinitely delayed, and after parting ways with the label the release of the record was in jeopardy, and still has not surfaced to this day. As such, they had to record a completely new album, which is still on track for release this year. It will be “more mellow and more soulful” and has no less than 18 songs recorded for the album, including titles Suspended, 8 Hours and 53rd Floor.

Kratos vs Sweet Tooth? Sony Super Smash Bros. Clone PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Announced for PlayStation Network. Debut PS3 trailer.

Sweet Tooth vs Kratos in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal for PSN.

Sly Cooper fighting Kratos fighting Sweet Tooth fighting Parappa the Rapper? :/ AWESOME.

Ever wanted to see Kratos vs Parappa the Rapper? What about Sweet Tooth vs Sly Cooper? NO? Why are you staring at me like that?!

Well the need to wonder who would beat who in a fight out of Sony’s stable of beloved characters will no longer have to be pondered, because they are all assembled into one badass fighting brawler with the announcement of “PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale”!

The game is a Super Smash Bros. clone (the series that pit Nintendo’s characters against each other in a unique brawling-style, not a Fighting game per se) that replaces Nintendo’s characters with some of Sony’s most popular characters.

It’s a recipe for success if I ever heard one. Even though it’s a clone, who DOESN’T want to see Kratos fight Sweet Teeth? Exactly. The game will be released exclusively for PlayStation Network on the PS3.

Kratos, Killzone, Fat Princess in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal

Lots of Sony characters converge in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal for PSN.

Confirmed PlayStation Battle Royal Characters Include:

* Kratos (From God of War)
* Sweet Tooth (From Twisted Metal)
* Sly Cooper
* Fat Princess
and
* Colonel Radec (From Killzone 2)

Many more characters are sure to exist. The environments meanwhile are a unique mashup between two different game series. For example one features God of War in the foreground/background, with Patapon characters behind… Crazy!

The game looks EXACTLY like a by-the-numbers Super Smash Bros. carbon copy. Which means it looks insanely awesome and insanely fun. :D Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery right? PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will be out later this year.

Here is the debut trailer and info on the game.

Skyrim, Morrowind, and Oblivion MMORPG? Elder Scrolls Online Announced by Bethesda. Release Date is 2013. Debut Trailer

Elder Scrolls Online

The long-running American RPG series finally enters the online realm in 2013! Platforms unspecified.

The day of reckoning has arrived! The Elder Scrolls Online MMORPG has been announced, taking Morrowind, Oblivion & Skyrim online! OFFICIALLY! (okay your actual copy of said games isn’t going online, it’s a play on words see. Read below)

Elder Scrolls Online will not launch until next year, 2013, for unspecified platforms, but the game has been confirmed and you can watch the debut trailer below.

Few details are known about the game, although much more will be learned once the newest issue of Game Informer magazine hits, which got the exclusive scoop on The Elder Scrolls online. This is the first Massively Multiplayer Online game in the long-running American/Western RPG series, and the first to be set in an online world where thousands of players can explore the deep mythos of the Elder Scrolls world together simultaneously!

It has long been rumored that the Elder Scrolls games would make a great MMO, and that the mythos was rich to provide the backdrop for one. And many people rumored that an Elder Scrolls MMO may have been in the works even after the success of Morrowind. And that anticipation only grew with the exponentially more successful Oblivion and Skyrim titles. Now, finally, it will actually be a reality! Which I think comes as a big surprise to many. It’s one thing to speculate, its quite another to know that the real deal is coming!

Gamplay details on The Elder Scrolls Online are scarce, but we know that the game is set in the ENTIRE world of Tamriel, that includes the lands covered in the Morrowind, Oblivion AND Skyrim games… the lands of Cyrodiil, Morrowind and Skyrim respectively. No word if any of the lands explored in the first two games will make an appearance, but you can probably bet on it.

The Elder Scrolls Online has a plot that is set 1,000 years before the events of Skyrim, set in a world on the brink of destruction by demonic forces attempting to assimilate the world into their kind, all at the hand of the Daedric Prince known as Molag Bal.

Three playable factions will be featured in the game, although we don’t know what they are yet or if there will be more. There is a rumor circulating that these will include a unspecified “Bird of Prey” race, a lion race and a dragon race. This by the same reporter of the rumor that The Elder Scrolls Online existed and would soon be announced (which has now been confirmed to have been true), so take that as you will. We’ll find out soon.

The Elder Scrolls Online will be the debut title from a new developer founded five years ago by Matt Firor, the co-founder of Mythic Entertainment (Dark Age of Camelot), he is head Game Director on The Elder Scrolls Online with his “Zenimax Online Studios”. Given how important this license is to Zenimax (the owners of Bethesda), you can be SURE AS HELL that they will do everything in their power to ensure The Elder Scrolls Online lives up to the Elder Scrolls name.

Here is the debut trailer for The Elder Scrolls Online.

It’s interesting that the Elder Scrolls Online MMO got off the ground before a Fallout MMO ever materialized. Many people thought that a Fallout MMO was inevitable, in particular because Interplay was once working on one (before Bethesda won the rights following a long, expensive and bruising court battle) and once Bethesda got ahold of the license, many fans thought a Fallout MMO would be next-in-line for the studio…. Looks like The Elder Scrolls will get the first crack at the online space however. And Zenimax will sure as hell have their hands full with such an epic transition to the world of online! I’m sure that the skyrocketing sales of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is what convinced Bethesda, once and for all, that it was The Elder Scrolls that needed to go online with an MMO, and NOT the Fallout license. Although Bethesda’s Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas sold extremely well, they can not TOUCH the insane sales of Skyrim, a game that sold an astounding $3.4 million copies in TWO DAYS across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Think about that for a minute. And that’s at $60 for a regular copy, or a whopping $150 for the Skyrim Collector’s Edition…. :O *the mind wobbles*

Of course, it’s also likely that The Elder Scrolls Online was in development even BEFORE Skyrim… who knows, especially considering that fans have speculated about The Elder Scrolls MMO for a long time now, and considering Zenimax Online Studios was founded way back in 2007. It’s highly plausible that the game has been in development for years, and we are just now hearing about.

The Electronic Entertainment Exposition 2012, E3 2012, the world’s biggest videogame tradeshow (held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California), is only ONE MONTH away, taking place from June 5–7. So we are sure to hear new, solid details and see actual gameplay footage of The Elder Scrolls Online in the near future. The game will also likely get its platforms revealed soon (maybe in that Game Informer issue) and we are likely to learn the first details of the next Xbox, next PlayStation, and new games for Wii U at E3 2012, so we may get confirmation on what next-gen platforms, if any, Zenimax has in mind for The Elder Scrolls Online. Will it be PC only? Stay tuned and get hyped!

Movie Theater Releases of the Week – Films Now Playing (April 30th – May 6th 2012)

The Avengers Movie Out Now In Theaters!

Earth’s Mightiest Marvel Superheroes team-up in The Avengers!

What new movies have hit theaters for your weekend entertainment? See the list below. The biggest, and most obvious, titan of box office releases is the long-awaited Marvel Comics movie adaptation of “The Avengers”. This film has been a decade “in the making” as Marvel slowly built up to it with each subsequent superhero movie they pumped out… Hyping it with an end-of-movie epilogue showcasing Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. (played by Samuel L. Jackson) meeting up with each of the Marvel comics characters, from Wolverine to Iron Man to The Hulk to Captain America, the stage has finally been set to bring all of the major Marvel superheroes together in one live-action film!

The Avengers is truly the DREAM FILM that all superhero and comicbook fans have dreamed of but NEVER IN THEIR LIFETIME thought would actually get made. The fact that Marvel has done it, and successfully pulled off the slow-build by linking each new superhero film to The Avengers via an additional end-movie scene, is absolute GENIUS. So far everyone I know who has seen it says it’s awesome and gives it high praise. Many said it was much better than they expected. CAN’T WAIT TO SEE IT!

What movies will you be seeing this weekend or seeing soon? It’s been a LONG TIME since I’ve been to the theater, I don’t have any money at the moment so I don’t know when I’ll be able to see a new movie, but I definitely must catch The Avengers in theaters!

Poes You Missed In Zelda: Twilight Princess (My Experience)

Poe Souls Appear In Zelda: Twilight Princess, Haunting the Night

Search for Poe Ghosts in Zelda: Twilight Princess! 60 total, they only appear at night. Sense as Wolf Link.

I missed some Poes, what are the most missed Poe Souls/Poe Spirits in the game? How do I find missed Poes? All very good questions, and all are questions I was asking myself.

Searching for the ghosts or “Poe Spirits” in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is one HELL of an ordeal. There are 60 Poe Souls to find total, and you can only search for them at night. Sadly, unlike in Ocarina of Time (and a huge oversight in my opinion) there is NO WAY to command the Sun to go down and make time into night in Twilight Princess… and (you guessed it), Poes can ONLY BE FOUND at night. Which means if it’s daytime or night is just about to end, you gotta wait a whole real-world 10 minutes or so for time to pass and turn into night. HELLA ANNOYING. In order to hunt a Poe you must turn into Wolf Link and use your Sense (Pressing Right or Left on the DPad) in order to see the Poe and target it. Hit it twice and you’ll be given the option to dive in and rip it’s heart out! AWESOME.

These Poes are very deviously hidden and can be hidden literally ANYWHERE. That includes inside of dungeons, inside of buildings, outside of buildings in the field, on top of structures, within challenge rooms, inside caves, deep inside dungeons and everywhere else. A ton of them will be found without even looking, and five of them you get automatically. Adding insult to injury, the game will NOT tell you which Poes you have missed, which Poes you haven’t found, or where to locate them. There is NO Poe Chart… this is maddening because no two people will find the exact same Poes in the same order, making it hard to follow a guide and find the ones you missed. Unless you have a great memory and a good description of the Poe being shown and are completely sure you got it.

This means that you may have to retrace your steps through all SIXTY freakin’ Poe locations in the game to find say, one, three, or eight that you missed. For me it was 9, as I found 51 by the end of the game on my own without using a guide…. Leaving NINE left to find.

So what are the Poes you likely missed? Here are the ones I MISSED. Hopefully this will help some other peeps out there.

DESERT!
There are TONS of Poes to find in the desert, and believe it or not this is where I found THREE whole Poes that I had missed. One of them is located behind from where you warp to at the Gerudo Mesa location. Keep going until you find a circle of bones and that’s where the Poe will be hiding. A second one is located on the narrow part of the map that divides the bottom half from the Arbiter’s ground/enemy fortress of the top half. The path branches as you are climbing up and goes left or right, where you’ll find some rocks and spinning enemies. Look around here for a Poe you likely didn’t get. The last one I didn’t find is found within the Goblin fortress before the Arbiter’s grounds. Head into an enclosed structure and you’ll see the Poe in there!

There are a lot of other Poes to find in this Desert, for example near where the Goblin place with the fences and the boars you need to ride is, you’ll find a dead tree that you can Clawshot to an upper area. There will be a Poe here. However once you kill it, use your Sense and dig in the soft soil, and you’ll find yourself in an underground area with lots of rocks and two more Poes! You can break the rocks by using your Ball & Chain Weapon or use Bombs. I already got all three of these in my game however. :)

GRAVEYARD!
This Poe Soul would be really tough to find if you didn’t happen to do exactly what you need to do the few times you are in the Graveyard to make this Poe appear. If this is a Poe you missed, then it’s virtually impossible to find on your own, as few people are going to think to recheck the Graveyard and push a grave… it’s more likely you may have thought of pushing a grave to make a Poe appear when you were first exploring the Graveyard in Kakariko however. As it makes sense if you think about it. But the fact that the Poe only appears from ONE grave makes it less likely to be found. I think even I had pushed a few graves, but only a few, thus I didn’t find this one. To get this Poe, go into the Graveyard located at Kakariko Village, and push the first gravestone you see on your left from the entrance. Out a Poe will pop! Wow. I never would’ve found this one. :/

SNOWPEAK!
Okay, you are probably like me, and you remember getting at least one Poe in Snowpeak. As such, I went here to check anyway, confident that I had gotten the Poes I missed, if I did miss any. I balked at this, cause I SWORE I got one… well apparently there are two, because near the very top of Snowpeak (after you go up the collapsed avalanche and up a few platforms) I found a Poe by the tree that was ALIVE. I swear I remember combing through Snowpeak at night searching for Poes. And at first I thought I just saw the glowing white wolves in the distance and that I was mistaken, that there WASN’T actually a Poe up there. How wrong I was. I’m really glad I checked. And that’s the moral of the Poe story. Maybe I didn’t save when I got it last time? Even if you are positive you got the Poe, search again. Just to be sure. So if you haven’t searched Snowpeak, DO IT. There’s lots of Poes here.

Additionally, there are several other Poe Ghosts in Snowpeak and in the Snowpeak Ruins dungeon that you probably missed. The most common and easily missible one that virtually NO ONE will find (and another I missed), is located at the foot of the race with Yeta. Race him and purposefully win or lose. You will then be at the proper section to get this Poe. Turn around from the Yeti’s and head backwards towards the race track, you’ll immediately sink into the snow a bit and have difficulty walking. Keep trucking for a bit through the snow (you can’t turn into a Wolf because the Yeti’ will see you) until you get to a mountain where you can see that a narrow strip of snow-covered land you can walk on swirls around it. This is where you need to head. Follow that path around the mountain until you make it to the top! If you had a sharp eye, you would’ve noticed that you can see the top of this mountain as you are racing towards the finish line during the Yeti race. At the top lies this hard-to-find POE! Remember that it must be NIGHT to find Poes.

The other Poe you may have missed from here is located in the Snowpeak Ruins dungeon. Go into the ruins and you’ll notice Suits of Armor that line the entrance. Bust them up using your Ball & Chain Weapon. Hit them once and they’ll collapse, hit them again and they’ll poof. Inside one you’ll find a Poe. Another Poe is impossible to miss, hovering near the Suits of Armor in the middle of the entrance hall (in between the pictures you slide down or around there). That one you probably found. There’s another located in the dungeon as well. Select your map and look at the 2nd floor. There are two iced over rooms, one on the bottom right and one on the bottom left. Head to the one on the bottom left. If you are on the right side, as you are going down the path that swirls (and leads back to floor one), you should have opened a pathway that leads straight across by pushing the blocks if you completed this dungeon, allowing you to easily go from the right side to the left, where you need to be. Once you get into the proper room, use your Ball & Chain to break the wall of ice and you’ll see a stone wall alcove that looks like a well. The Poe should be in here if you didn’t get him already while making your way through the Dungeon.

– I’ll add to this list as I go through to find the rest of the Poes I missed, but these videos shows you where all the Poe Locations are! –

My Republican 2012 Presidential Candidate Political Quest (Button and Pin Collecting)

Historical US Presidential Pins

I would love to grow a collection like this of actual historical Presidential Pins or Buttons!

I’m a political junky, if you haven’t already figured that out. I generally follow what is going on in Politics on both the Left and the Right intently. I’m a hardcore Republican and Christian Conservative (or Evangelical as I’d be called) so obviously I am more intent on keeping up-to-date with Republicans and following the current Republican race than I am the other side, but even so I try to keep a wide eyed view. So I will gladly hunt down President Obama’s speeches, and I love watching all the speech’s and foreign meetings with dignarities that President Obama holds or Secretary of State Clinton gives.

Just like I did with President Bush and Secretary Rice. I still find these events to be fascinating, and I love to watch how President Obama interacts with foreign dignitaries.

So what’s the quest? Since the Republican Presidential Candidates Race for 2012 is over and Mitt Romney will be our nominee, I decided that I want to do something fun to remember the race. I want to track down Pins/Buttons, Tshirts, Bumper Stickers, Mugs and other memorabilia from all of the Republican Presidential Candidates! Especially while the race is still relatively fresh and these things shouldn’t be too hard to track down. I’ll definitely start with Newt Gringrich, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, President Obama/Biden and Mitt Romney in that order.

2012 Presidential Hopeful Buttons

Unfortunately I’m not working right now so it’ll have to wait, but hopefully I’ll still be able to purchase these items (or some of them) from the official websites or PACs of the candidates. In particular I was a huge fan of Herman Cain and he was my original Top Candidate for the Republican Nomination of 2012, so I really hope I can still get ahold of his memorabilia. Also Michelle Bachmann and Rick Perry, whom I supported to a much lesser extent. And of course, I don’t wanna forget Gary Johnson! And Tim Pawlenty! And last BUT NOT LEAST, Jon Huntsmann. I was a big Huntsmann fan despite my Conservatism, I thought he would’ve made an outstanding President. I hope he’ll also be tapped for Mitt Romney’s cabinet.

I’ve actually thought it would be really fun to collect the buttons, pins, bumper stickers from Presidents of the past… and then not just the President’s themselves, but also the Presidential Candidates that ran during the elections against them. It’d be a great history lesson, since my interest in politics didn’t start until the Bush Administration. :P During the Clinton years I was too young in gradeschool and Junior High to give a damn (although I still remember this female History teacher of mine saying, “How dare a President wag his finger at the American people!” Course, I hardly knew/cared what she was talking about lol)… so I have LOTS of history to catch up on!

Obama vs McCain Pins

These are awesome pins! They may have been given out for the 3rd 2008 debate between John McCain & Barack Obama

Here’s a video showing some random Presidential pins. :)
