Andy Rooney on the election of President Barack Obama is an interesting video to watch. Here is a man in his late 80s (he died at the age of 92 in December of 2011), someone who remembers quite well the era of segregation that many young Americans like myself can not even fathom… and he is commenting on the legitimate election of the first black President of the United States.

Whatever you think of President Obama, that fact can never be and should never be lost on us. While you may disagree with all that his Presidency has wrought (or the opposite), and may think it has done more damage to America than has helped, you cannot deny that the election of an African American to the highest office in the land was a good thing for all people.

And that weighty fact has to have its significance on your heart when you watch a video like this, a video from a very old white man, one whom has been accused of racism himself (of course, what old white guy in a powerful position hasn’t, eh?).
