Song Video of the Day – Heavy Prey Music Video With Flyleaf Singer Lacey Sturm From Underworld: Awakening Soundtrack

Lacey of Flyleaf in Underworld: Awakening Heavy Prey Music Video

The dropdead gorgeous Lacey of Flyleaf in Underworld: Awakening Heavy Prey music video.

Flyleaf singer Lacey Mosley (now Lacey Sturm post-marriage) stars in Underworld 4: Awakening’s “Heavy Prey” music video from the soundtrack to the film alongside Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo.

If you haven’t seen it then be prepared to be BLOWN AWAY. This is easily one of the flat-out most badass music videos Lacey has ever been in, and that’s saying a lot considering the TONS of outstanding music videos Lacey and her Christian rock band Flyleaf have created over the years.

If you haven’t seen the newest Underworld movie (that series of action films starring Kate Beckinsale and a war between vampires and warewolves) then you may want to check your sight at the door and try not to pay attention to the many, MANY awesome scenes taken from the film, as this music video is full of them. They are put to the alluring scenes of Lacey in a beautiful dress doing her custom twirling and unique singing stances as she belts out the amazing lines to this absolutely incredible music video.

Overall this is one of the greatest music videos I’ve ever seen. And I don’t say that lightly! Lacey is the true star and shines brightly as she writhes and dances around the stage in a way that only a girl could, but even belts out a headbanging scream at the end! Just like classic Lacey used to in the debut Flyleaf record before she hurt her voice. Playing guitar is Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo, and putting the two together along with scenes of Kate Beckinsale as Selene from the film is absolutely a knock-it-out-of-the-park winning combo. Enjoy!

If you like this be sure to buy the Underworld: Awakening soundtrack on Amazon or buy Heavy Prey the song on Amazon individually. Or you can buy the Underworld: Awakening Soundtrack on iTunes or buy Heavy Prey song featuring Lacey Sturm on iTunes.

Underworld: Awakening is the fourth film in the franchise, and follows the original Underworld (2003, first film), the sequel Underworld: Evolution (2006, second flim) and the prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009, third film). Flyleaf has released two albums, their self-titled debut Flyleaf and their sophomore effort “Memento Mori“. Outside of that, the band has released dozens of EPs (the newest being “Remember to Live“, made up of old material from when Flyleaf was called “Passerby”). These EPs include: Broken Wings: Special Edition (2002), Passerby (2003), Broken Wings (2003), Flyleaf (2004), Music As A Weapon (2006), Much Like Falling (2007) and Remember to Live (2010).

The band has a mind-boggling 14 singles form only two albums, and nearly as many music videos including: “Breath Today“, “Do You Hear What I Hear?“, “I’m So Sick“, “Fully Alive“, “Perfect“, “Breath Today“, “There For You“, “Again“, “Beautiful Bride”, “Missing“, “Chasm“, “How He Loves” and “Arise“.

When Ferrets Overtake Mass Effect and Mortal Kombat. Art Is Win (Thanks to Amales the Artist)

Mass Ferret 3 Art

The Heavens.... says the Mass Effect ferret.

Ferrets. Mass Effect. Mortal Kombat. Ferret Effect. Mass Ferret. Mortal Ferret. Kombat Ferret. Ferret Kombat. Mortal Ferret Mass Kombat Ferret Effect.

The moral of the story? Everything is made better by adding “Ferret” to the end of the word. You know. I know it. There is no argument, no discussion. Only reality. Ferret reality.

That’s right. Some crazy one-eyed individual has gone on artistic rampage and combined FERRETS (those lovable, furry, alien looking creatures that some people own as pets, and other people fear…) with popular videogame franchises Mortal Kombat and Mass Effect. Her penname is “Amales” and she’s a 26-year-old artist from Russia. And her work is pretty amazing, be sure to check out her Amales Ferret-loving Deviant Art and send her some love. Tell her “Watchusplaygames.com” sent ya!

And no, you do not get real-life ferrets dressed up as Mortal Kombat and Mass Effect characters. I know I know, I was kinda disappointed too. But then I saw the artwork and all was well again. ENJOY!

Encouraging Quote of the Day – Our Greatest Fear In Life Should Not Be Failure, But Succeeding at Things That Don’t Matter

People who act in spite of their fear are truly brave.

The Fearless and the Truly Brave.

“Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.” – Francis Chan

This amazing quote challenges us to reconsider where we are in life and where we think our accomplishments lie. Too many of us in life are doing exactly what this quote tells us not to, myself included. Ultimately a lot of what makes up our day-to-day lives will be meaningless and of little to no worth in the end…

And that is something that should challenge us to live our lives to the fullest each and every day.

13-Year Old Girl Guitarist Shredding Your Face Off! (World’s Best, Game Changer Video of the Day)

13 year old girl guitar shredder Game Change

She smiles as your heart drops. You realize you've been bested by a little girl.

Youtube declared “World’s Best 13 Year Old Girl Guitarist Game Changer”, while I don’t know about that statement, there is no denying the absolute awesomeness being put on display from this girl’s intense guitar shredding.

You can find a lot of other videos of youngsters doing amazing musical displays, but this is the one I remembered seeing not too long back so thought I’d post it up.

Enjoy. :)

And yes it’ll make you want to give up, seeing a little girl shredding like you only wish you could in your dreams. ;) Btw this video has over 1 million views, sitting pretty at 1,684,023 views! Hopefully this girl will put a band together or something, as she has some amazing talent!

TV Show Review: Gilmore Girls Kill Me Now – Episode 3, Season One

Gilmore Girls Kill Me Now Titlescreenshot - DVD Menu

Gilmore Girls Episode 3 - Kill Me Now (Season One)

“Kill Me Now” is the name of the 3rd Gilmore Girls episode of Season One, and gives us our first real “fluff” piece, as nothing mature plotwise happens in this episode. Although it is a really big character builder in a lot of ways.

In this episode the grandmother (Emily) manipulates the weekly dinner to set up a “Golf Date” between Rory and her grandfather Richard. Lorelai (the mother) tries to stop it from happening, but gives in when Emily challenges the situation and says that Lorelai is “scared” of the prospect of Rory having fun with her grandparents. She ends up giving in to the Golf Date that Emily has set up. While Rory doesn’t mind the situation, Lorelai “knows that she knows” that Rory doesn’t really want to go, and Richard is absolutely beside himself that he should be forced to take his 16-year-old granddaughter to his elite club to go golfing, when she’d rather “be at the mall”.

Rory and Richard (Gilmore Girls Screenshot)

----This episode focuses on the relationship between Rory and her grandpa Richard (Played by Alexis Bledel and Edward Hermann respectively)

Lorelai, of course, is expecting to come out on top and for Rory to have a bad time, but instead the opposite proves true. Rory ends up having a great time hanging out with her grandfather, and they find out that they have some things in common, in particular a love for the desire to travel (To “Fez”!) and a love of old books. Since Richard is rich, he has access to interesting old manuscripts, something that Rory swoons over.

This boils up jelousy in Lorelai, who does not like the fact that her parents are intruding in the life of Rory which she fought so hard to keep her away from… and now here she is enjoying the “country club” lifestyle and finding aspects of her grandparents lives interesting. After all, Rory is supposed to despise everything her grandparents represent… right?

Rory and Richard At the Golf Country Club (Gilmore Girls screenshot)

Rory enjoying the Golf Country Club atmosphere with her grandpa.

This of course is preyed on by Emily, who seems to make the gulf between Lorelei and her all the greater throughout the episode at every chance she gets. The scenes with Rory interacting with her grandfather and talking on the golf course (as well as Rory’s failed attempts to actually hit the ball, as you can see in this picture) are fun to watch. It’s interesting to see the two of them forced to get to know each other, and to see how their fondness for one another grows with each passing conversation and event.

Rory Attempts to Golf With Her Grandpa Richard (Gilmore Girls Episode 3, Season 1)

----Rory's hilarious attempt to hit the ball goes awry... much to Richard's amusement and annoyance.

This episode also has one of the funniest moments ever, when Sookie is caught buying “someone else’s strawberries” behind the back of her vegetable boy Jason. Sookie spots the strawberries from across the street and makes a beeline straight for them, entranced and causing bike wrecks and car’s slamming on their breaks in her wake… And the ensuing argument between her and Jackson when he spots her oogling the strawberries as he is walking down the street is absolutely hilarious. Jackson: “You went behind my back buying someone else’s strawberries?!” Sookie: “I was desperate!” Jackson “YOU DISGUST ME.” Sookie: “I needed the strawberries!” Jaskons: *crying* “Well I hope you’re happy together!” It’s an absolutely awesome scene.

Sookie Strawberry Scene (Gilmore Girls Episode 3, Kill Me Now, Season 1)

The absolutely hilarious Sookie Strawberry Scene between her and Jackson. A classic moment.

Photo of the Day – True Friends Leave Footprints In Your Heart

Footprints In Your Heart

Real friends leave footprints in your heart. 32nd First Lady of the US (married to President FDR, Franklin Roosevelt)

This is a wonderful, beautiful saying that really rings true. Many people, over 1,000 in fact, will pass through the average person’s life… sometimes you know them well and are close, other times you may not be… even with the latter, a real friend will move your heart. And you’ll never forget that person entirely and your heart will still yearn for them.

Really, really beautiful saying.

“Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.”

Allegedly these words come from our 32nd President’s wife, First Lady “Eleanor Roosevelt”, married to FDR, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who is America’s longest-serving President. He served THREE terms and is the only President to serve for 12 years instead of a max of 8 years, from March 4, 1933 – April 12, 1945. He oversaw America’s crushing blow to the Axis during WWII. First Lady Eleanor was beloved by many. I have not actually checked out whether this quote does indeed come from her or not though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Either way, this is a absolutely stunning photograph to go along with such beautiful words.

Here’s a funny video of Eleanor Roosevelt on some weird game show called “What’s My Line”. Looks like a lot of fun! They should revive this show! This clip is from 1953 or 1954.

Album Review: War of Ages – Return to Life, 6th Full-Length

Return to Life Wallpaper (War of Ages)

The killer album artwork for Return to Life by War of Ages. A visual representation of resurrection from death.

My Return to Life review (War of Ages) takes a look at the newest record from the Christian metalheads who return to the metal scene with their sixth full-length album! Be sure to buy Return to Life by War of Ages on Amazon and support these guys!

After obtaining their highest critical praise yet for their previous album, “Eternal” produced by Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying, does Return to Life elevate the band even further?

In a quick word, no it doesn’t. Although I say that as someone who never sat down and listened to Eternal all the way through, having only heard the album as others played it. Everyone I know thought it was their best album yet and absolutely loved it. And what I’ve heard was very good. I actaully own the album but have never sat down and listened to it fully. FOR SHAME.

So take that info for what you will.

“Return to Life” from War of Ages sounds like a “return to form” for the album, and maybe that was partly what inspired the title. This album sounds exactly the way the band used to sound on albums like “Pride of the Wicked”, “Fire From the Tomb” and “Arise & Conquer” (all three of which I own, Eternal was the only album of theirs I never got around to buying; even though I intended to pre-order it). If you loved what you heard on those records, then you are sure to dig “Return to Life”.

Basically their sound is exactly the same on those albums and to my untrained ear sounds exactly like they have always sounded. And to me that makes this album sound as forgettable as their previous releases. To me, while I love me some random War of Ages, I could not name you a single song from past albums if a gun was put to my head. Everything simply blends in with each other and no tracks feel distinctive. While that is not a flaw in and of itself necessarily (it depends on what kind of music you are looking for), I do think it is a knock against the album. It simply means that the album has not elevated them any. I don’t know about you, but I always want my albums to be memorable and to impress, and I didn’t feel that on this album DESPITE a few standout tracks (virtually of them towards the end of the album. The last three all kill it in particular).

In the end, I give the album 6 out of 10 stars. Which means it’s “above average”. Harsh? Maybe… but I feel like it was a disappointing album and I feel like it is a stepback from Eternal. Even though I never sat down and listened to Eternal, that album felt much more distinctive from what I recall. This album almost feels like an album that was recorded with production that wasn’t as high as on Eternal… even though that’s not the case, but that’s the kind of vibe I get. Like I said, a step back.

Having said that, here is my breakdown of each track from “Return to Life” as I listened to them. It’s also important to note that I didn’t have lyrics in my review copy from the publisher, and could not find lyrics ANYWHERE online. I’m bugging the publisher to send them to me, so hopefully they will. Regardless though, I have listened to enough of War of Ages to be able to hear Leroy Hamp’s words and understand them without any real problems. Typically though I will NOT listen to a metal record if I don’t have the lyrics.

Song #1 – Immortal (4:00)
The first track is a powerful opener, although its not until the guitar solo of the song that I really jumped out my seat and found the song amazing. The lyrics are pretty good from what I can tell and I really love the shouting on this track. Overall this is a good song, but it sounds exactly like what you think War of Ages should sound like and nothing more… and I really hesitate to say it is great. As the first half of the song is kinda forgettable. I love the sermon opener though. Read the rest of this entry »

KJ-52 Interview Exclusive. On Working LeCrae, Kickstarter, Metal, Videogames and more!

KJ-52 Matrix is Dangerous

Interesting cover artwork for Dangerous before the final cover was selected.

Dangerous is KJ-52′s 7th full-length album, and a good one at that. I personally gave it 9 out of 10 Stars in my review.

In my exclusive interview with KJ-52 for WatchUsPlayGames.com, I discuss a range of questions and topics with the white Christian rapper, who’s been going strong for a whole decade now.

In it KJ-52 is extremely candid, and you can get a really good sense of his laid-back personality, as well as the sense that he doesn’t take himself too seriously. His comedic manner shines bright throughout and he answers a deluge of questions I put together. I tried to ask non-typical questions in order to get some interesting answers, and I’m extremely happy with the results.

Important topics of discussion include:
* How KJ-52 and LeCrae met. Whether or not they are friends.
* KJ-52′s Top 10 Favorite Videogames.
* What does KJ-52 think of metal, is he a headbanger?
* Did KJ-52 ever think he’d be working on his SEVENTH album?
* What is the story behind KJ-52′s one-off 2003 rockband “Peace of Mind”. Will they ever perform or release another album?
* What KJ-52 thinks of the Kickstarter revolution.
* What are KJ-52′s favorite and least favorite songs from Dangerous.
* What genre outside of hip-hop is KJ-52′s favorite?
* What are KJ-52′s favorite artists and bands of all time?
* Do you live in a bubble when recording a new album?
* What is “Goldinchild” up to these days?
* What are some exclusive, fun tidbits regarding KJ-52s StorySongs like “#1 Fan” or “Dangerous”?
* MUCH MORE!

KJ-52 fits a ton of information into a packed 16 minutes of audio. So sit back, pop some popcorn, and enjoy in WatchUsPlayGames’ first exclusive interview! :) Read the rest of this entry »

Bible Verse of the Day – Through Love Serve One Another… You Were Called To Freedom (Galations 5:13-15)

President George Washington Praying At the Battle of Valley Forge Art

You are called to Freedom... USA's 1st President, George Washington, was a praying man.

There is absolute Freedom in the Blood of Jesus Christ. Freedom from bondage, freedom from despair, freedom from the things of this world that tie us down. We are called to use that freedom to serve one another and love all our Brothers in Christ and in the church and all the people of the world. “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” is the commandment!

Bible Verse of the Day – New Testament: Galatians 5:13-15
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.”
